Lovely poem about childhood memories of June when summer fun just began. I especially liked "reed-fringed pond." It sounds like you had a very healthy childhood! Congrats on your 2nd place finish!

Mystery Poet,

You did an exceptional job in the penning of this beautiful sonnet.

The message it gives took me back to my childhood days when we couldn't wait till school was out for the summer, and we knew we would have a lot of fun playing fun games and baseball. Thanks for taking me down memory lane.

Excellent rhyming throughout with a very smooth flow, allowing for a most enjoyable read.

The very best to you in the contest.

Blessings...Portia

A fine sonnet about the summer fun children have when there is no school and they are allowed to play all day long, what fun it is, the kids here are not free until July! Love Dolly x

This poem really resonated with me. I feel like we may have shared the same childhood. I remember the frantic mass exodus from my school building on the last day. Great images too.

Nice sonnet. It conveys, very effectively, the mood of children just released from the shackles of education. Also gives credit to the girls for pulling their weight in games with the boys.

Yes, June always represented freedom and revelling in the joys of life before it got too hot. I was so fortunate to grow up in the country. I always felt so free once school was out.

This sonnet, A Wonderful Month of June, has the proper formatting and takes the readers back to those precious, seemingly endless days of childhood summer. Ahhh.
