Clever and unique... How cavalier are we who live where June means summer and sun and picnics? You give a fresh perspective with rhyme and
iambic pentameter and a really clever title and closing envoi! Totally enjoyed this one! --Karenina

I really liked reading about the opposite of where I live. June is when we can truly say it won't snow. I've seen snow in May. June means vacations, and school being out, and cookouts, baseball games, all of those things. And while I knew that the southern half of the world had winter in our summer I did not realize that the was like this. Thanks for enlighting me.

Good poem for the contest. The rhymes flow without being stilted. I wonder where you live that June would have winter weather? Use modernized a very classic and old poetic structure. Well done.

Hi Theodore Thank you for your review and without giving too much away it is a Southern state of Australia so we have winter and it has been cold and wet and very windy in places with quite destruction in some places heavy winds blowing big trees down many places without power for a few weeks
Sometimes it snows where we are but none so far where I live but frosty mornings
I enjoyed writing this one settled by the warm fire lol
    Cheers

The Speaker here describes June down under where it's late fall/early winter. Good description of the winter winds in stanza 1 contrasted with the cozy warmth inside (stanza 2). The Speaker expresses optimism in stanza 3 that spring will soon appear. A few errors: line 2, as Winter winds BLOW. Line 11, beginnings O'ER the land.
Line 8, either FIRE'S side or FIRESIDE.

It is strange to think of June as Winter where I live, but I loved your ambient sonnet which is well metered and rhymes and I wish you luck with the contest, love Dolly x
