Hi Liz,
We seem to have reached a plateau of safety, in a weak-kneed sort of way. It's all got to do with "some" of the population jumping on those second doses of vaccine. But if you study the figures, and toss in the Delta variant, everyone should still be wearing masks and washing their hands. But many aren't. Face to face encounters? And life outside your bubble? Perhaps we are underestimating Covid-19. Perhaps we are deluded. In my humble opinion, I think we should be living in a yellow stage, yielding, being careful, proceeding with caution. Practice some dance steps at home with Chuck. Wait for more people to get their vaccinations. Summer's here, but is the time right for dancin' in the street?

I enjoyed your conundrum!

Nice to see you!
I couldn't wait to deep-six the mask! I've remained defiantly unconfined from the start--our large family gathered unmasked throughout. Not recommending, just saying.
There is a woman nearby who told my friend she'd take me, but she never called, nor mentioned it to my friend again.
Alas, (as paraphrased from last week's story) Chuck won't stop drinking and I won't start driving.

Hi again, Liz
I am one of those who can enjoy one bottle of beer after mowing the lawn or shoveling the driveway. I don't need 2 or 3, or more. I worked with a fellow for a few years at Moosehead. He was an alcoholic. Fifteen beer/day was his regular routine. In the parts department where we worked, I found empties all over the place... under shelves mostly. He had the run of the bottling floor, and not a single foreman would nab him. He'd brazenly walk around the backside of the pasteurizer and grab a couple of cold beer right off the filler run. Then, back down to stores with his prize. He was a tyrant, too. And yet only 4 1/2 feet tall. When he retired, he found out almost right away that he had throat cancer... beer?... cigarettes? I don't know. He lost all his teeth with the radiation, as well as his voice. He was reduced to carrying a bottle of water around with him because his mouth got so dry. He lasted about 2 years into his retirement before passing away.
Don't give up on Chuck. Perhaps he'll see the light. I'm led to believe the Bible says almost anything... in moderation. Self control. And finding out what's important in this life. Tell him.
Hugs,
Kimbob

Chuck has "just" two drinks--his concern is if he's stopped by the cops he may fail the test; given he weighs only 125 pounds the volume of alcohol would register more that what it would for someone heavy. The obvious compromise is for him to have just one drink, but he won't.

Hello Liz.
I have to agree with you to a point. The world has started to return to some distorted form of normal. In my state, the governor has decided it's a great time to add more control to people's lives, so normal has a leash on it. I guess we will find out how things are really going before too much longer.

That sucks! I've been champing at the bit for 15 months to ditch the mask.

You will need to keep checking with Dr. Fauci.

You'll get there, maybe find some activities closer to where you live. It is hard to get back into the swing of things. The book club I attend met for the first time for over a year a week ago, and it was strange. Maybe we've all developed agoraphobia. Did your guy consider not drinking so much, so he could safely drive? However engaging FS is, it's possible to spend too much time there. judi

It hard to totally understand what is going on. We can't trust our news sources. I still am not fully functioning and I am not sure I will. Maybe in our unsettled world, it's best to just entertain oneself. Thank you for sharing.

Well, Lizzie, my dear, make Chuck get up off his butt and take you dancing whether he wants to or not. I mean, if he's not willing, there are others who would be glad to take you I'm sure. You both can dance and mingle without drinking. Thanks for sharing.

I feel your pain, LIz. But I would still be wary about going out to such clubs just yet, since there are still many people in the US who are not vaccinated, and the new variant, Delta, is marching in. Anyway, it's too bad your driver won't dance without drinking. lol

You are not alone in this predicament. The novel coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic has changed the world would be an understatement. It has changed how we work, learn and interact. The social distancing guidelines have led to a more virtual existence, both personally and professionally. Let's hope that we are totally out of this soonest possible. Take care. Stay healthy.!

As we open ths state up, I think the effects of the isolation have left us a little squirrelly. We pulled the covers over our heads and are reluctant to re-engage with the outside world. I am surprised that most are still wearing masks. I find myself even shying away from even the telephone.
