Okay, I was very relieved after reading when I scrolled up to see that this was general fiction. I'll give it to you. You had me hooked on the story and wondering what was going on with cat and her owner. Why keep bringing olives into the house?
Good post.

Oh my, Samantha was a real cat and I was the owner but I do thank you for reading and catching that error, I will fix it in a moment.

Now you have set something in motion I reckon there is possibly an olive or two in my cat fund Alie. Great story. Yes, they sure as heck have some strange antics. Cat's I mean not olives! Our old cat Bit had a thing against the prawns on the pizza. He would use one claw to gently dislodge a prawn slide it across the counter-top, all with one claw mind you then set it aside and go for the next one. He continued to do this one claw thieft until he had removed all the offending prawns then he'd walk away. We could do what we liked with them, he obviously thought they didn't belong on the pizza his humans were going to eat! And after 21 years of his company I miss him still. Great story and love. Anne.

Alie,
A cat who liked olives? That seems really strange. hahaha But since I don't know much about cats it may be a very normal cat-thing. hahahaha Martinis and pizza? For cats? Who knew? You could be onto a million-dollar business, my friend!

Loved your story about Samantha! How interesting that she liked olives! And the pizza must have been gluten-free, too! Patch always asks/begs/silently stares to get people food but if there's any garlic in it, I don't share.

Being a dog person, I've never experienced the curiosity of a cat, or I should say I've never owned one, but it sounds like you two had an enjoyable routine, and I think it's funny that you made her her own martini. I'm sure you do miss her. Neat story.

Thank you so much for reading, reviewing and your great comments. I was always a cat person until I inherited a dog-75 lbs of a lab mix, she was 13 when I had to have her put down last year. Oh it was either make one for her or I would risk having a paw in mine and I never knew where that paw had been, lol.

That's funny.
yep, I think that was a good idea.

I agree, it was a good idea.

This is a captivating story about the idiosyncrasies of a cat with an addiction, or at least a taste for olives. Since she took them from both pizzas and martinis, it wasn't the alcohol she was looking for. The fact that she spit out the pulp is interesting, as is the fact that she rubbed them on her face. There must be something in the olive, or the brine that gave her some kind of reward. You might want to research that a little more. Pets provide great entertainment as well as companionship.

What a fun read, aryr--loved it. Samantha was one smart, beautiful kitty. She knew what she wanted and just how to get it. You did a great job telling of this special action. I would have loved to see her fishing for olives. I believe the olive have so kind of small that attract like a catnip/mint smell. But then all kitties would do that. So that could be wrong. I had a little Siamese stray that I found a home for and the new owners named her Martini. Please think about joining Animal Crackers. Thanks for sharing.
Respectfully, Jan
