Hi Liz,
That's crazy, eh? I suggest that Scott adds this line on his pick-up stub he gives to his clients: "Not responsible for items unclaimed after 3 months." Then, he can sell them or give them to the Salvation Army. He can't be expected to keep them forever. He's only got so much room. I doubt he has a warehouse. Three months is plenty long enough, in my opinion.
Nicely penned! Scott sure takes care of writer's block, doesn't he?
Hugs,
Kimbob

Thank you! I tweaked for the story--she picked it up when she got back! Scott indeed preempts the possibility of writer's block!

Hello Liz!
So it goes!
That's a long time to have forgotten to pick up a vacuum cleaner. Although... I know someone who couldn't find her beautiful Pendleton white wool jacket. Searched everywhere. Finally, in desperation, she returned to the cleaners, and there it was ... where it had been for over a year! :)
Your writing is fast paced and delightful!
Thank you for sharing!

It just goes to show that there should be a market for delinquent vacuum cleaners as well as slavery for the thoughtless customers who leave their cleaning companions in someone else's basement. Well done Liz, blessings Roy

Liz,
Doesn't she have minions now she can send over to pick that thing up? Seems like, as a respected leader of the community, she would not want that vacuum blemish on her reputation. hehehe
Thanks for the smile!

I bet that happens a lot. I took a clock into be repaired, when I realised it would cost me more than a new one, I never bothered going back. I wonder if it's still there. Hmm. That was at least six years ago. I bet he sold it, or kept it for himself! It's strange how we forget about things and where they are. This piece reminded me of my clock. Lol. A great story that I'm sure many are now looking shame-faced at. :)) Sandra xxx

I can't believe people don't come pick up their belongs. Of course, I have 1 dog and 2 cats so a vacuum is necessary in my house. LOL Thank you for sharing.
She promised to pick up the machine, comes the time she doesn't get re-elected. ( I reread this sentence 3 times and stumbled over it each time. I think it needs a rewrite.

Thanks--I hadn't liked that sentence either (the simpler alternatives didn't have the flavor I was going for). I reworded it:
She promised to pick up the machine if she isn't re-elected.

She probably doesn't need a vacuum cleaner where she's living. It would take much more than a vacuum cleaner to clean up Washington DC. As I posted in a poem in September of 2019, DC is not a swamp, it is a cesspool.

It's hard to fathom how anyone could leave something in a repair shop for that many years. If they didn't need it, why not just donate it to charity or take it to the recycle depot. At this point, why would she even bother to say she'll pick it up. Just send a check for the repairs and let Scott do whatever he wants with it. Another daily chuckle for the books. Thanks.

I think they are there for life... or at least they act as they are. Funny how a person running for office seems so concerned with the public and once they win...they forget about us and worry about what their fellow congressmen are thinking. As for the Dirt Devil, Scott needs a new policy... Ninety days and you are gone.

Very funny! What I found interesting was her reaction to someone calling on her private line.
She did not want calls one her private line but did not change it when she entered Congress.
I do not think she will ever claim the vaccum cleaner.
