Dear Sally, I have been trying hard to get caught up with some of the postings received when I was off site for such a long time. (I am still having soreness in my knee when I sit at the computer for too long and am just starting to be able to do a little more.) In any event, I have saved you for my final person because I wanted to go back and catch all the chapters I missed in your Running Blind book. My goal is to read two or three of them each day until I get current. Your stories are always top notch.

I like that Lieutenant Harris had a premonition and it bore out. I think that is an important trait for a really good law enforcement person to have. These are my favorite lines in this particular chapter.....We found a little clothing shop and were transformed to take our place for this evening's impromptu art event downtown.

It reminded me a little bit of when I ran an assistance program for the homeless who wanted to get jobs. I had the needed funding to take them to the Good Will, Salvation Army, or other recycled clothing places to purchase clothes suitable to wear on an interview. At one time I actually helped manage a thrift store, and theatrical people would some times come in looking for vintage clothing. Smiles, Janet

A lot of exciting action occurs in this well-written chapter.

In Section One, after wrapping up analysis of articles once owned by long-time missing Camille Jean-Baptiste, we learn that Suzy has noticed that Olivia Henry looks just like the composite of what she may look like today. The case could be closed happily if both King and Samson recognize her scent.

In section Two, Sergeant Dina Ray spots the stolen car, but it speeds off, plunges into Vermilion River, and is swept downstream. Seeing one man slumped over the steering wheel and another crawling out the passenger-side window, and realizing help will arrive too late, she courageously leaps into the water in a lifesaving effort (the result of which won't be revealed until the next chapter).

Section Three is a good description of New Orleans on a summer's night.

Section Four brings us to the auction of Andre's floral painting, which sells for far more than expected (which is not uncommon in auctions of work by a popular deceased artist). The question left for the reader to ponder is whether the "gentleman in the back" is simply a wealthy art collector or the villain impersonating such a person, deceased at his hands, whose money he is spending.

I like your mother's expression, "wearing a concrete overcoat" (which avoids the "cement overshoes" cliche).

Superb, and aptly illustrated by the saxophone.

You are most welcome, Sal. Yes, I'm working to catch up, in part just to read what happens next (in proper order). :)) Your way of keeping multiple threads going simultaneously is actually true-to-life as well as a way to maintain overlapping suspense. All your readers love that. -- Mike

A good way to end an auction, Sally, with a cool Three million dollars. :) Cha-Ching. But, I want to know about the killer in the fancy strip suit and where did he come from? Olivia what about her? Questions, questions, questions that is how you leave me. :) Thanks for sharing.

They're getting close. Maybe Olivia does remember and chooses not to say anything. Amnesia isn't usually permanent. Maybe she wants to keep whatever sent her into that hospital secret. And the guy slumped over the steering wheel, is he dead? Can't wait to find out.

Excellent crime drama story. It is an interesting concept, a blind police detective. It would definitely make an interesting crime drama series for television, cable or streaming. Well done!

This is a good chapter, filled with lots of action, Sally. Great dialogue and imagery, and you've left us with a question, "who is the man in the dark suit who paid so much for the painting?" I'll tune in next week to find out. Well done.

Honestly, I thought you had passed away, dear Barbara. In our last communication, you said you didn?t think you?d make it through the night and then you were gone until today. I?m more relieved than anything. I?m so glad to see you and read this. Thanks for checking back with me. We miss you honest writing around here these days. Look forward to reading you.
