How beautiful, very well written, the rhyme and flow make this a joy to read, and the words within are so very heart warming, some times a person just knows they have more to do, an excellent read, best wishes for your contest****kahpot

Those diseases that hardly get a mention these days, were killers back then. How times have changed and we now battle new diseases. A well written and rhymed poem of triumph over tragedy, much enjoyed, love Dolly x

Sadly it was my grandmother's time. She possessed no material goods, lived in West Tennessee hills in post-depression years.Two-room house without electricity or plumbing -- just my grouchy grandpa. Yet she had faith and Vicks salve. Although she was Protestant, folks called her Saint Margaret. Low and behold what should arrive on April Fools Day but little old me, during a whooping cough epidemic. Sure 'nuff @ 6 days later, I caught it. The doctor that delivered me at home was a carrier. She treated me with what she had. She lost her life 3 months later. I believe it was heart issues that claimed her. Your tribute is beautiful and I am happy to place a star wreath upon it.

    Thank you so much Jean, I remember you from when I was on here back ten years ago. I think you're on my facebook. Anyway, both my grandmothers believed in Vicks salve. I got whooping cough at two from sucking on a token another little boy took our of his mouth and gave me. I truly appreciate the six stars. Nice to hear from you again. Have you posted anything lately?

Your Grandmother is honored that you wrote this great tribute to her, Beth. I enjoyed reading it. You did a great job telling of your life, her faith, and how she saw what she did when she was ill. I believe everything about it. Your words flow smoothly as do the lines. Best wishes.

May I suggest ~

T'was( 'Twas ) Typhoid(typhoid) fever which had stuck

"But listen! Surly ( Surely) you all know

"But No! the ( They) say it's not my time.

[in notes-->thyroid should be typhoid
Best wishes.
Thanks for sharing.
Respectfully, Jan

Bethshelby:

The story about your grandmother reminds me a bit of my paternal grandmother. We used to get calls to the hospital because she was supposed to be at death's door. Often, she would be sitting up telling jokes by the time we could get there, often less than 20 minutes later. Once she told me she would let me know when she was going to die. Thanks for sharing such a nice tribute to your grandmother.
