Wow, I think this would be the ultimate in trickery, fancy that. It would take some setting up, but boy, it would be the best love ever played on an unsuspecting victim, great entry, good luck, blessings Roy

glad you enjoyed my little story. Not sure where my muse thought it up but it just popped into my head. It definitely was the ultimate payback! Have a great day!

Well done

Yes, quite a surprise! How did Jake manage to fake all that? Sounds like he has a whole gang of other practical joking friends aiding and abetting him and what seems like a sick sense of humor. But still, a surprise and entertaining ending.

And his friend has the same sense of humor...her payback will be wicked I am sure. Thanks for reading and reviewing this silly eighty word story for the contest. Have a great day!

Ha, now that is what I would officially call carrying a joke too far. Oh, well the story was very believable, even I didn't see Jake faking his death as a practical joke.
You should add a disclaimer: Please don't try this at home.
A very good entry. This will be hard to beat.

Yes, the ending would certainly be a surprise, Mystery Author. You did a great job with the prompt. The picture is perfect for your words. The dialogue 'makes' this come alive. Best wishes.
Thanks for sharing.
Respectfully, Jan

Hi, Jan... so nice of you to stop by this afternoon and take the time to read my silly 80 word contest entry. I either had something in my coffee or my muse is messing with my mind...writing something so morbid yet funny. Have a great day!
Comment from Possummagic
Hahaha I really wasn't expecting that. I don't think he'd be alive for much longer if he did that to me. Yes Jake, that was too much! I'm sure you'll find a way to retaliate! Well written. Good luck in the contest.

OH yes! When she wakes up and discovers that he has set her up royally as payback, I am sure her mind will be spinning until she can get him back... a tough one though. I am thrilled that you loved the short. Thank you so much and for the shiny stars. Have a great day!

It?s 4;41am and I can sleep so I?m writing? as you do. Have a good one!

Then we should be friends so we each have someone to talk to... You must be in England I am guessing by the time. I have a few friends there already...always room for one more. LOL
-
No, actually Australia. There are a few of us on this site. You can never have too many friends.
-
Oh, I have a few friends in Australia too... One I met on here, but she no longer writes her poems on FS, and she adds her poems to paintings she does. She told me I have an awesome accent... No, it's not me; it's the Aussie. LOL, You are so right; we can never have too many friends. Smiles...

Now I?ll have to work out your identity. After rhe contest of course.

This flash fiction piece demonstrates the theme of surprise very effectively.
The title is well-suited although, it gives nothing away.
Well presented.

This eighty-word story, Who's Laughing Now?, has the required word count and NAILS the theme with a great and bragging-rights-worthy practical joke that will never be forgotten or bested.

Wow...coming from you, bill, I am excited and thrilled by your review. I have no idea where this idea got planted in my brain, but it blossomed within seconds. I thought I'd be told I was morbid... but it was merely a practical joke. Thank you...thank you...thank you! i guess he got his payback! Have a great day.... because you already made mine exceptional.

A very funny story. I enjoyed the commitment you gave Jake that he would be willing to fake his own death just to surprise Sally. You expand on these ideas you have in this piece and make a series of stories about Jake and Sally and how they started pranking each other. Wonderful work.

It's tough to get a complete story into 80 words, but I am thrilled you found enjoyment in it. That's quite an idea...their practical jokes could be quite shocking to some. Have a great day!

I liked this short story. It made me laugh at the end. I was caught up in remembering with Sally, that I was startled at the surprise as well. Nice job.

thanks for stopping by and leaving me a review. I appreciate it. If you have time, I wondered what you thought needed tweaked to earn five stars instead of the four? Have a great day!

Well, that certainly is a practical joke to die for. Being that flash usually ends with some sort of twist, I wasn't too surprised by the 'surprise'.
But that doesn't take anything away from story.
Best of luck at the polls.
Peace, Lee
