This is a very nicely written poem for first kiss. It has a great flow and rhyme. Beautiful photo to compliment your words as well. Nicely done. We shared many wonderful years together,
In a lover's bliss.
A love we kept deep in our hearts, That started with that first kiss.

My husband and I began the same way. He kissed me and that was the beginning of a lifetime of love and happiness. Thank you for sharing, Willie, and God bless you both,
Sally :))

What a lovely romantic poem, Willie. That first kiss was the one that captured both your hearts. I'm wondering if this is a true story in the poem. It read as if she has died, which is a tragedy. Beautiful words and so well written. Well done! :)) Sandra xx

Sandi, true story. I finally got up the nerve to kiss her. She said, "I
wondered when you were going to do that, I was beginning to think I had bad breath." Thousands of kisses followed through 63 years.
She passed away seven years ago, last April, taking the best part of my heart with her. Thank you for your kind review. Willie

I'm so sorry, Willie. I can understand how you feel, it's painful to lose the other half that made you whole for so many years. Sending you a warm hug. xx

True romance! The idea of your love germinating in the shadow of an old oak tree and growing in parallel with the tree itself. What a very apt metaphor that is.

Wonderful poem with a well-matched picture. Your preference for rhyme is quite evident in this poem which reads easy and paints a long sequence of events. Best wishes.

That old tree sure brought up some lovely memories. You write very appealingly about how the first kiss led to a lifelong connection. You didn't miss anything if you had the reward of love for life.

I personally do not like that choice of font. On my screen when viewing, the descenders of letters within each stanza are cut off - y, p, g, j. This could be remedied by using a different font or slightly smaller size so there is space between lines for the descenders to show.

This is such a lovely poem which you're written beautifully. I loved the way you've presented it on the screen, made it much easier on my eyes. It's a shame some of the letters were cut off, but I was able to understand what the words were. Regards, Lilly

I love seeing when a young couple's 'crush' is able to grow into mature love. Your poem showed this growth very well. It reminded me of my own first kiss... it didn't grow.

This is such a lovely, moving, descriptive piece. It conveys a powerful message about the first kiss, the passing of time, and an enduring love. The bottoms of some letters are missing; it's just a bit distracting.

"The First Kiss" commemorates a love that commenced, as all romantic loves eventually must, with a first kiss. I remember a bunch of early kisses, and the kisses that should have occurred, but didn't. I also remember the first deep kiss I had with my partner; a memory I can still feel and taste.
I can sense possible improvements; for example, the two adverbs, 'what' and 'where' in (complete) lines 1and 2 could be omitted with nothing lost. Perhaps other lines could be trimmed, but the poem is excellent as is.
Just for the sake of flow, I would change line 17 by transposing the order of the sentence to 'Everyone called it puppy love'. This flows a little better, but may not matter.
