'Rain Sinks Into Soil', is short, succinct and very much to the point. With a minimum of words, this talented poet has told it as it is. It was a pleasure to read and review a poem of this standard.

A cycle of the natural world and very tasty I've heard. You'd never catch me eating them though! I do live to listen to them, they are like white noise. Thanks for sharing. :)

I wouldn't eat them either. I heard you can get high if you eat them but you would have to eat a lot of them. LoL
Thank you very much for your review and kind words.

These are great pictures, and if you tie them up with interesting author's notes, you've got yourself one excellent haiku. The poem itself plays second to the other two I mentioned. It seems informational as well. I know the sound of cicadas...it is very distinguishable from other sounds. In So Cal, I grew up with grasshoppers. But in Northern California, they have tiny frogs that sound like grasshoppers. It is a bit confusing, but I like them anyway.
Thanks for letting me share and for sharing your information with me.
Take care,
Jesse

What a beautiful, cool poem for a very cool bug. Look at those transparent wings!! We don't seem to have these where I am right now. We might be too far south. But, I remember them from the summertime when I lived in Kansas City. They are loud!!

Neat Haiku, a little story in just eleven words. Amazing coincidence, we have the little chirper out here in Wyoming, and yes, noisy!
Remember you from some time ago. I do not get on FS too often, too busy outside this time of year.
Will read more of your work.

Nice haiku about those noisy little creatures that come to life in the night.
Love the pictures to go with this well written poem. I remember trying to explain to my 2 1/2 year old granddaughter what these bugs were because she would be somewhat afraid when she heard them on our walks past a heavily wooded area in our neighborhood.

I must admit I agree with you, they are a "noisy" bunch, their mass meetings are really quite thunderous, beautifully written Gypsy, you've produced another gem. Well done, blessings Roy
