I always enjoy Vivian stories. As I said once before, she reminds me of my late Aunt Helen, who never drank water. Beer was her beverage of choice, which she sipped between puffs on her cigarette. Vivian is always hilarious, and I loved her method of selecting winning dogs. I'm glad you told us who Swifty was. Great story. Well written.

Thank you for your kind comments and review. There are people who are so eccentric, they will always be alive as we remember them. Your Aunt Helen and Vivian are sitting somewhere sharing a brew.

Vivvian certainly is a character and I just love her. I've met a couple of Vivians before but you really have the Vivian personality type down pat. Eddie is just the way I imagined him to be. Your story is humorous and delightful and it is good to read something that isn't so heavy. Your story is well written and the dialogues are excellent.

This is a cute story. I really like the characters. This part had me laughing quite a bit:
"What did you use, a hatchet? It looks like a swarm of bloodsuckers attacked your head. I would keep your hat on. The sun bouncing off your bald head will blind other drivers. It makes your ears too big. You will be able to receive radio waves with those things sticking out from the side of your head." Ha!!
Cheers!

I enjoyed your story and the lucky lady. It was humorous throughout, especially the 'radio waves' Good description of Vivian at the beginning. Good Read.

This was too funny...I loved it. I liked the title most of all. It was great how you had Vivian associate the dog's names with her female relatives based on their lifestyles. This was my favorite line: "You will be able to receive radio waves with those things sticking out from the side of your head."

Vivian is definitely a character...One thinks they would dislike her for her crude ways and snipping talk, but you end up loving her. It was a very enjoyable and humorous story from start to finish. Thank you for sharing. Smiles, Carol

I remember Genesee beer from my childhood in Erie, PA. Their commercials featured a pretty woman named Jenny. Anyway, cute story and cute ending. I enjoyed reading it.

Aw... this is great. I love these characters and especially the feisty Vivian. She reminds me of my mother, June. She played the Florida Lottery with the same numbers religiously and spent the money in her future plans. Living in New York for eight years, I remember the Genessee Beer brand. It's very popular in western New York.
One small improvement: If Tangy [were] a dog.
Sending you my best today as always,

"What did you use, a hatchet? It looks like a swarm of bloodsuckers attacked your head. (the same character is talking, we do not need this extra quotation, or we need some kind of action here like Vivian darted her eyes and pursed her lips before she continued)
"I would keep your hat on. The sun bouncing off your bald head will blind other drivers. It makes your ears too big. You will be able to receive radio waves with those things sticking out from the side of your head."
"Damn" I shoulda known. She would do this to me! She never liked me that is why she came in dead last!" (same issue of an extra quotation here)
Other than the two small notes, I enjoy the snarky character of Vivian. Good work and thanks for sharing. Later daze.

A very well-written story, Mary. I enjoyed it a lot. Of course we had to keep reading to see why she was being so successful - and then to see why not. Excellent build-up. She sounds like a real character!
