I love the variety you presented here...it works with the consistency of intrigue and wonder to how the journey would end. Lovely play with the word scheme and the rhythm which glued me, as the reader to the end. Well done!

I have to admit this was a bit scary. I had hoped it
wasn't true and that you did not experience all
this trauma in your life.
Though it is not all rosy, life can bring up to a point
of no return, if we don't help ourselves to overcome
and give our troubles to Jesus.
Letting go and letting God seems the only way out for you.
My best,
Marie

Your story is one that was not often talked about. Over the years mental illness has come to the surface where people don't have to hide in shame over their breakdown experiences.
My sister-in/law has had several episodes and experiences similar what you are describing.
Thank You for your part in bringing awareness.

Your poem tells a story and has me intrigued. What were you "not allowed" to do at age 24? Find a bride and get married?
Obviously, you did start a family, eventually. You said you bit off more than you could chew, but I'm not sure what you meant by that.
You wrote that your natural family members were badly behaved, and I'm sorry to know that. It seems that you had a rough time of it.
I never saw the movie, "Jason and the Argonauts," and you haven't told us much about your dream connected to it, but I'm guessing that it may have inspired you to name your son, Jason.
But what about the picture (with the newspaper clipping) entitled, "Nightmare on Nautilus Avenue"? What's that all about? It must be something very bad.
I suppose we may learn more, in future chapters.
Hi again Ricky :-)
This is actually the same post, but you have added some material to it, made it longer and given it more substance.
I sure am sorry about your experiences in that mental ward. I had a friend who is certain that her experiences in Creedmore Psychiatric made her go from bad to worse. Such places, especially in the 80s, could be quite dismal, depending on who was running them.
When I was a social worker making home visits, I had a client whose doctor put him on Haldol. It's very strong stuff. A lot of those meds will really make you put on weight, and make you sluggish besides.
Some of the other patients there were clearly very disturbed -- the lady who crept along the wall, the guy who craved his gun, wow. And then the weird TV and two-way mirrors? Were they trying to make people worse?
I volunteered in some mental health facilities during the same era, and smoking was quite unrestricted. I was a smoker myself, and I still feel bad for exposing others to second hand smoke... it was all over the place.
At least it was over, after three weeks. I hope? I'm sorry you had to go through that, Doc.
I still don't understand what the picture means, though.
