You are so right about the much-needed war. God help us if Hitler had gained success. We should be forever grateful to you soldiers who sacrificed so much to save our countries. We will never forget it.

This is beautiful and very touching. I am indebted to you, as are all the American people, as well as people in Europe. In fact, Europeans I have met who survived WWII seem more appreciative of American soldiers than many Americans are. Thank you for sharing this.

What a great and heartfelt poem.
I am so glad to make your acquaintance, Sir. You are a member of that great generation that freed the world from tyranny. You are our living-breathing heroes and those who died made the ultimate sacrifice and will never be forgotten. God bless you and keep you healthy and safe.

Love, a True Patriot!

Hello Jake,
This is a wonderful poem that highlights the debt
many owe to those who fought to save the world
from the darkness. Sadly, the battle continues as
the underlying differences remain and seemingly always will.
Excellent meter and rhymes and meaningful theme.
Wish I had a six left for you.

Best wishes.

This was a great piece - crazy to think how different our youth was by a span of about 60ish years. Thank you for your story and I rarely say this, but thank you for your service. Great work here and thanks for sharing. Later daze.

I was raised on an arsenal, and my parents worked around the clock making ammo. Two brothers, One fighting the Desert Fox in North Africa, another deal with the Japs in the Islands. The Air Force was the Army Air Corps, until after the war, it became the Air Force. 1945.

This is a beautifully written poem. It has a great flow and rhyme scheme. An aging vet from years long gone . I'm proud that I still carry on. But neer forget the agony, the cost to set our whole world free. Well done. Your writing is amazing.

I wish I had a six left, Jay, this is a wonderful poem. We owe you and all those men and women who went to war to keep us safe. You did it, my friend. But there are more wars, they never seem to stop. I can't help but ask why. Well done, this was an incredible poem. :) Sandra xx

You took with nostalgia about those days but you still let the hope to gravitated around our world:"
An aging vet from years long gone,
I'm proud that I still carry on.
But, ne'er forget the agony,
the cost to set our whole world free." Thank you for sharing and good luck with your writings.

Heartfelt and haunting--beautifully rendered in powerful words and graceful flow--as always, your avoidance of obscurity is refreshing. Keep on being accessible.
