Smile to you, I enjoyed reading your memories of when you said in your story,
You could imagine all those people sitting in those chairs, watching me on that stage. What could I do to impress them? Recite one of my poems? Sing a song? What would they think of that?

Thanks for the excellent review and I am glad you enjoyed this little tale of what it was like to work in those empty theatres. It was a bit of an eerie experience. I wanted to convey a sense of the connections we have with all sorts of people, through a shared experience in one place. estory

What a great little true story! The memories are described in a beautiful manner that could only come from first-hand experience. I love the way you saw the empty stage, with the ghosts hanging around.. love the mention of classics including 'the sound of music', (one of my favourites), the way emotions hung in the air of memories past. If only the walls of the empty theatre could tell the millions of stories it witnessed in silence, the good, bad or the ugly...
Taking an old place and bringing it back to life the way you did is praiseworthy!
Well done!
Cheers,
DJ

Thanks so much for the excellent review and I am glad you enjoyed this trip down memory lane in what is fast becoming a relic of the past. I really wanted to convey that mysterious, almost melancholy moment of the empty theatre with all its memories of little moments of time in our lives; the boyfriends and girlfriends on those first dates, the moms with their kids, and all the old movies we got to see in those theatres. I am glad that got across. estory

I have to say that working in a movie theater when it was empty must be a weird experience for a teenager. It must be a dreamy and dark place and all you wanted to do was to perform. You must be a natural performer. Did you sing and dance?
Well done.

Thanks for the great review, and your interesting perspective on the story. No, I just pushed my dad around the stage, and like all writers, I observed the place and imagined the audiences that were there before me. I wanted to to create a sense of how we all want to be acknowledged, famous performers on the stage of life, emulating those stars there, but it is really these unseen moments, these unacknowledged contributions we make that end up creating the connection to the people around us. estory

Thank you for sharing this story. Sounds like you were able to visit a lot of places with your dad, and dream about what might have been. I especially like what you said at the end: "But in the end, for most of us, its not singing or dancing or making a spectacle of ourselves in some way through some talent that makes us precious to the world. It's these simple, behind the scenes things that people often take for granted, that enable us to make our contributions."

Thanks so much for the excellent review, and your wonderful comments supporting this little piece. I think you got what I was trying to say here. We all dream of being that idolized performer on the stage, impressing the audience; but it is these overlooked contributions we make when nobody is looking that end up being the meaningful ones, the ones that enable the people around us. estory

I perfectly understand you, sometimes something that seems unimportant can boast our souls with happiness and that daring attitude, that's why your wish to perform on that scene in front of the silent chairs that were the keeper of thousands of souls that are echoing through that theater. Thank you for sharing and good luck with your writing.s

Thanks so much for the excellent review and your interesting comments supporting the piece. I wanted to kind of show that we all have a role to play in the world, whether we get applause for it or not, we all have those connections to people in the smallest, overlooked roles. We have to understand that sometimes it's not a highwire act or a bring the house down performance that we are destined to perform. estory

I love this memory of your days gone by. It brought many similar memories to me. But I never before thought much about what went on behind the scenes of these old movie theatres. Like most, I just went to enjoy the show. I can see you dreaming of performing on that stage. thanks for sharing. Very well written.

Thanks for the excellent review and I am glad this little piece was able to bring up a sense of the theatres when they were empty. It felt so eerie to me at the time, seeing all those empty chairs, and thinking of all the audiences who ahd come and gone and the memories they had left behind there. Kind of a strange connection to strangers. estory

I love your conclusion in your author's notes. It is the people behind the scenes, who make it all possible for the actors, and actresses, to do what they do best. I love your detailed descriptions of what and how you changed the screens in the old days. This is well written and an excellent portrayal of what the people did behind the scenes.
Have a wonderful afternoon,
Jesse

Thanks so much for the excellent review and I am glad the story brought into focus these behind the scenes moments, these people on the stage when the theatre is empty, doing their thing without notice. And trying to connect with a mysterious audience that is there only in memory. estory

Yes, you did it well and, I didn't cover all the aspects of your piece but, there were no many that I highlighted the ones that meant the most to me.
Have a good day,
Jesse

Memories of the way things use to be, memories of our past help create who we are. As writers we use those memories to help guide us and make our stories more life like.

I never had this experience, but you make it clear in the reader's mind. I remember going to the movies when it was 50 cents! Oh, what dreams those times spawned...such color and fantasy - thinking one day I would be in the movies. Lots of plays and so forth - but never cinema. You presented this so well and I thank you for the memories...

Thanks for the excellent review and for your wonderful perspective of the story. I am glad it was able to conjure up some of those memories of being in the audience, and I hope it connected you to those who had been on that stage behind the scenes. estory

Very true, estory. I think you captured that very well. What I mean is that you captured that hidden dream that maybe you could one day make a difference to the audience out there. I can well imagine the inspiration from the empty theater. Ulla:)))

Thanks for the excellent review and your perspective on this little story. I was trying to create a sense of how we all are actors on the stage, behind the scenes, playing unnoticed parts in the world, connecting with those audiences who have shared that space with us in some way. estory
