At last! That is the information Peter is after and from there the facts are soon to follow. This is truly a top-flight novel, Jim. I predict you will have much success upon its publication. Its coverage spans so many historical years with heartfelt action involved.

Plenty of information about Tom's wild parties and his friends in Heather's conversation with Peter and a good place to finish the chapter with a drink of Tommy's elderberry wine. Enjoyed it, cheers valda

This was a great chapter, Jim, we learnt a lot more about Our Tom. What an awful brother, to think that his sister would play 'hostess' in other ways to his hoity-toity friends! It was lucky he had that accident and died, (awful thing to say, but...) if he hadn't, the farm would have been long gone to pay off all his partying debts. Now we are getting somewhere with our German lady. Good old Julia, wait until she finds out she has a cousin! But, will that mean he'll be intitled to a share of the farm? That might not go down very well. Or it could go the other way and they want to bring him into the family. Only one person knows the answer to this. I hope I'll find out tomorrow. Well done again, another truly excellent bit of writing. :)) Sandra xxx

I've been in and out all week, and haven't had much time to sit and review. Now I have!

You might have to wait for book 3 to find out what ultimately happens but you will have something to be going on with before then. Several people are concerned that the German might have a claim on the farm, but I personally think there is no hope of that - at least not simply by way of inheritance. many thanks for this review.

    Are you settling in OK?

LOL! My review appeared twice, and now you have your 26 reviews!!! Aren't I good to you? Even if it was an accident.

Yes, it's taken longer than I thought, but it's looking lovely. We went for a walk this morning into the Nature Reserve, it's beautiful. We come out of our front door, and it's at the end of the pathway. It's so lovely here, I'm so pleased to be back where I came from. I'll try to get a chat in later. Have a lovely weekend, Jim. xxx

That struck me as odd too. I thought I was on 24 then suddenly 26. It will probably right itself eventually.

No, it will stay like that. It's happened to me before. Are you posting again tomorrow?

-A good image to go
with the story; the wine
looks good, too.
-The story that Heather continues
telling is very good and interesting.
-We learn a lot about how Tom was
running things with the lavish
parties thrown in.
-First, there is a break in trust
between him and the Danvers'.
-I was wondering about this
statement, whether it meant
father and mother literally or
figuratively: "there were the
feyther and mother of a row between them."
-Allen is enjoying all of this information,
and really pays attention when the
German actress is mentioned.
-But, of course, we need to have
a break before Allen learns more,
but the bit with the wine is very good.
-The ending is great with Julia and
Tommy's lines!
-Well done.

I appreciate the research that went into the interrogation process. Your writing shows that in how well you wrote Allen getting to the bottom of this incident. This was another interesting chapter. Good job.

I hated to have you end this chapter to hear more about the "German Piece." If I had the book, I would be reading pages quickly. You have me coming back to get the answers--a sure sign of good writing.

Thank you so much for this six star review and the comment on the speed you really feel like reading it. I really appreciated this. The fact that you still have sixes to award at this end of the weekmshows that you don't give them away easily. I am honoured.

particularly when the guests was genuine country people as had an interest in the land - even in the context of an accent/pattern of speech, this doesn't read quite right. I would switch was to were and I wonder if it was 'genuine country people who had or country people and had/and who had'

Other than this small note near the beginning, I didn't notice anything else out of place. Keep up the great work. Later daze.

Ah ! Finally the name popped out along with the elderberry wine and Julia's enthusiasm for her would have been aunt. I am sure she would join in with heather's recounting ...
looking forward to the juicy bits...

So now we get the German pilot's mother coming into the story, through this dialogue between Hettie and Allen. This third party discussion of these past events and the people involved with them sheds some perspective on the perceptions of these people, but it does kind of remove us from the action, as it were, and I wonder if it would be more exciting if you just told the story in a more immediate sense, happening here and now, with the characters unfolding the action in real time and dialogue rather than having them discussed third party. Something for you to think about maybe. estory

Thank you so much for this review. In this series sometimes we get the same events from different POV. I think you may have missed some earlier episodes perhaps.
