I understand this driving force to create. I too, love to write or draw. It does course through one's veins, not to be held captive. I especially love to write in the wee hours of morning, when it is quiet and my husband is asleep. I loved your wording about "dirty nails"... LOL.. Excellent poem, excellent rhyme. Beautiful work!

I used to be like that but eventually the writing won. I tell folk I like wild garden but actually it is wild because gardening lost out to writing and, if I am honest, age. I can write sitting down and writing doesn't break my back.

Thanks Jim. I know the feeling of the pain in the back after bending over so much... but, I love my flowers!! Have a lovely day, my friend.

Melissa,
hahahahaha I used to do so much gardening, too. But that was back in the middle of my mania days - I would stay up all night sometimes - working by lamp light. Crazy. But my flowers were pretty! hahaha
Thanks - love the peony!

I enjoyed this immensely. I'm not a very good gardener, but I have many daydreams about being surrounded by beautiful flowers and lovely plants. Maybe some day I'll be better at it.
It's wonderful to have two talents that you are passionate about. I'm sure they both helped you stay entertained through the madness of 2020.
Have a great week! Happy planting. :)

Hi Erika. Thank you. I am glad you liked this one and my ongoing dilemma of poetry vs. gardening. Hopefully, I can get it to a place where I can water and coast a while :). Again, thanks!!

Good Morning, Melissa!
Smiles all around!
Oh, how your offering resonates with me!
I spent all morning yesterday planting columbine, coral bells, weeding, and creating a huge pot of annuals. Oh... and walking to view our dogwood again... just to be certain she is still blooming! :)
And my fingernails are filthy as I type! :)
You capture my daily quandary this time of year exactly!
Oh... and congratulations on your haiku win! Absolutely delightful! (I also wrote one about a cardinal, but did not enter the contest after I read yours! Will save for another day!)
Happy Gardening!
Happy Writing!
Happy Everything!

Of all of the people on FS, I knew you would understand. :). Thanks so much, sweet Diane. I hope you capture some of your garden in a verse or two. I really enjoyed the piece about the dogwood. :)

This poem is well composed and the topic resonates well.
Often there is so much we enjoy doing and not enough time to do it all.
The image accompanying the piece is beautiful.
Planting a flower garden, can itself be a poetic pursuit. Instead of words, flowers tell the story.
Well done.

Oh, I wish you could come live next-door to me. My yard is so neglected since my eyesight loss. My indoor plants are looking good though. And I have plenty of time for writing. I enjoyed this so much and can understand your sweet distraction. Flowers are so beautiful. Sending you my very best today as always for this lovely poem,

Hi Sweet Sal. Thank you. I understand that your limited sight hampers your desire to garden. Wish I could bring you a bouquet of my peonies!!! Thanks again for your lovely review.
