A knockout. I agree, ya gotta love the HP!!
I think you'd be great as a children's book writer and there's always a hint of humour in your poems from what I've read so far.
You'd do equally well in advertising.

okay, Miss Deb,
what is HP sauce? Is it like our Worcestershire sauce??? - pronounced (by me) as woostershir :) (though I rarely use it.) am more into au jus from meat with scrapings from pan and a little added beef or chicken broth.
May have to Goggle it - but they might not know either.
Never-the-less, a cute poem. And hello, to your dad!

Hi Katharine :)
HP sauce has the consistency of ketchup, whereas Worcestershire sauce (pronounced by me as Wusta!) is more watery. I suppose the taste is quite similar, but not the same!
Your description of the meat juices/pan scrapings/broth, sounds to me like the gravy I would make to go with a roast dinner. x

thicker than "Wooster" but similar. ok, thanks.

LOL, you're welcome - a culinary delight!

There are many folks ho have to have a sauce on anything on their plate, but as for me I prefer the natural flavors fo my foods.

LoL wonderful poem for your father's favorite condiment. Good rhyme and meter. The presentation is perfect for the poem.

I agree with your dad, HP is English and I bet he likes mushy peas as well?
Aussies put sauce on everything especially all the thousands of pies we eat. Loved your spin on Hp and we should start a HP club! K XX

Hi Aussie, how did you know he'd love mushy peas?! We all do LOL!
Club HP sounds like a great club!
Thanks for your feedback.
Best wishes as always, Debra :)

Well, English folks love HP and mushy peas too. So do Aussies. I put my meat pie in the bowl and cover it with the peas - I once wrote a poem on here called The Floater!

Great condiment and sounds like it is good with most anything. It sounds like your Dad is a good salesman for HP sauce. They better recruit him for an ad!

Debra,
I don't know what HP sauce is, but it looks a lot like our Worcestershire sauce. I know some people who eat ketchup with everything - eggs, everything. YUCK!
Thanks! Did you get the stuff I sent you? Any good?

Hey Robyn :) Thanks for the feedback - we have Worcestershire sauce here too - I love it on cheese on toast (grilled cheese?)
I got your emails, thank you! I haven't had chance to have a good look through it all yet, but I break up from work on Friday for a couple of weeks, so I should find time ;)
Best wishes as always, Debra x
Comment from Gloria ....
Well you need to email this delight to HP tout suite. It is totally delicious.
I truly enjoy these kinds of rhymes and I must admit, on those rare occasions I use sauces, HP is the one. :)
Looking forward to your next treat, Debra. :)

I am with you on this one! The only place selling this product abroad is Iceland and I am useless without my HP sauce when eating egg on toast! (The HP factory used to be in Aston, Birmingham and you could smell the sauce in the air!). I think it was moved to Scandinavia? A fine write Debra, love Dolly x

Thank you for sharing with us about HP sauce. I have never heard of it but I'll ask my daughter if she's tried it. She's studying in London now. Thanks for the fun review of this intriguing sauce in rhyming verse!
