Oh my goodness! You have a real-life mystery on your hands. Was the killing of the dogs reported to police? The woman should be back in jail. Hoping that there turns out to be a logical explanation and Maureen gets in touch soon. :)

I also left voicemail at the main (receptionist's) extension. If they were both on vacation they'd have been back by now; regardless, there should have been a message to that effect programmed into their answering machines. I'd have gone to the police, but her family would have reported her missing long before now.
I wish this were fiction. Thanks for weighing in. I'll keep you posted.
Unfortunately, Maureen has no proof that the woman poisoned the dogs.

Holy Cats! Have the police done a well check on her? You know some interesting characters. I thought I did, but I think you have me beat. Hope all comes out well with your friend.
Blessings.

This sounds like a case for that aging detective on the 1970s, Barnaby Jones. He seemed to specialize in unaccounted-for disappearances. It is suspicious that Maureen Lane remains among the missing. As an attorney, she has a responsibility to her clients. If there was trouble about a paralegal bilking her out of a million dollars, perhaps there was foul play. In Barnaby Jones, one crime tends to lead to another, usually more serious one, like murder. Please let us know if the lawyer returns or if she's been basking in Acapulco or some other getaway destination. judi

Sometimes the downfall of a good imagination is it gets the best of us in certain times. Hopefully she met a nice beau who swept her off to Paris. I hope that's the case.

Great writing. Now I'm just hoping that this is one of your overinflated, bits and pieces of truth meant only to entertain and ignite our imaginations. Otherwise, your friend may very well have joined the dead lawyer association. Thanks for sharing.

That is extremely scary. I assume this was not a story you have massaged. I hope you keep checking and let us know if anything turns up. It sounds like real live horror story.

OMG. Do you really think something has happened to her? Will you look up her home address and check that she's alive? Don't just worry, Liz, travel. Does she have a receptionist?

Hi Liz I hope this is joke, poor women :("The woman who stole from Maureen was arrested; whilst out on bail she sneaked into Maureen's yard and tossed poisoned treats to the dogs; both died.
A person who is capable of such a monstrous act would surely have no compunction wreaking deadly revenge on her human target." Thank you for sharing and good luck with your writings.

Wow. That is serious. I don't think you're going to let go of it, either. Do your readers a favor and keep us in the loop. That's some serious stuff. From the evidence with the dogs, my imaginations goes in the direction of yours. Let us know.

What the psychopath?! This chills me...
I double checked to be sure this was, in fact, non-fiction. To my dismay, your concern is real! I agree, someone twisted enough to seek her out and poison her dogs could well take the next leap! I pray you hear from her soon... I know you'll keep us posted! So scary, Liz. It's a screwed up world!--Karenina
