Wow! a five seven seven that says so many words... almost brings a tear to the eye. I have never heard of a katauta before, and I loved your story of the cherry tree and your haiku metaphors.
Well Done .

This poem makes a powerful statement as the juxtaposition of scattered blossoms at the collision location evoke life's ever-present fragility.
I do hope you are recovering well from the accident, Gypsy. Zanya

It really does make you think. Car accidents happen in the blink of an eye, I know because it's happened to me. The spilled flowers was quite a image. Thank you for sharing and making us think.

Yes indeed, this haiku paints a picture way beyond the words written, but they set the horror scene of an accident that defies imagination, an excellent haiku Gypsy, well done, blessings Roy

You did a great job with your katuata, Gypsy. The presentation is beautiful though the subject is tragic. I like the color scheme, the image, and the message. The imagery is vivid.
May I ask ~
did you mean flower basket and not flowers OR flower's?
Thanks for sharing.
Respectfully, Jan

This poem is a sad but beautiful poem. The last line really hit hard. Your photo matches your poem too. I really hope you're doing fine from the accident.
Best Wishes,

Another fine poem, Gypsy--and one that marks a tragic event in sad poetic form quite effectively. The few words tell of a tragedy of an immense and avoidable event

Katauta? First Japan gives us the Haiku, now the Katauta...wonderful. I love learning a new art of poetry. This poem is beautiful. I'm so glad the only mark you received from the accident was this poem. Were you in the car or the motorcycle? Just curious. Give us more Katautas.

I was in the car and the other person was in a motorcycle, he is not dead, thank God. My daughter was driving and I was behind her. The motorcycle hit my side of the car. Thank God there were airbags on that side.
Thank you very much for your review and kind words... amahra.
