Exceptional
This work has reached the exceptional level

You have perfectly expressed my feelings about jazz. I used to say jazz soundly like someone desperately searching for a note.

Bebop bow dap bum did dodley scuba do

Then I bought a saxophone. I always felt like I could learn to play one. Now, I play strictly jazz and have learned to appreciate the search for notes.

I am right there with you about La La Land changing my outlook on jazz! Your execution of this piece was divine and the usage of the different colors, fonts, and sizes are superbly eyecatching. I can't wait to read more from you.

I am glad the movie La La Land turned you on to jazz. I love jazz myself and listen to it a lot!
I haven't seen the movie yet, so I'll have to rent it and watch it at home. It must be some heck of a movie to have you switch from not liking jazz at all to getting the bug to love jazz! The free-verse poem really exemplifies the idea that you thought it was a cacophony of noise.
I love how a movie could change your mind completely!
There is nothing I would change about this post. You did a fine job...an excellent piece!
Have a good day,
Jesse

    Hello Jesse :)
Thank you for your lovely feedback. I wouldn't profess to loving all styles of jazz music, but the music from the movie was awesome!

I've been a jazz fan for a long time. I'm featuring jazz in my new novel. I'm glad you enjoyed it and I'll have to check out the movie. I don't watch a lot of movies these days. Sending you my very best, Sally XOs...

An interesting poem highlighting a movie, "La La Land". I'm afraid to say that the movie wouldn't have bolstered my love or appreciation of jazz. I happen to not care for either. However, I did find interest in your description of words and syllables that you used to sound like jazz. The poem I like! Great job, Debra.

If it made a convert of you, perhaps I, an inveterate loather of jazz, should see that movie--it must be stupendous! As to the poem--my sentiments exactly.

Oh this is just fabulous. I love it! Your word play with sounds is brilliant, as I can hear the drums, sax and horns' pulsating beats in syncopated five/four time.

I shall be watching the movie because it definitely sounds like my cup of tea, or perhaps coffee even.

I love to see you stretching your poetic wings. :))

Good alliteration throughout. I like the way you've written the sounds of different instruments playing together in the middle of the poem. And I like the transition of "getting it" in the end. You've really give this a musical touch. Nicely done.

You did a great job, Debra, with your poem. I really like the way you formatted your words--the colored font is super. I like the sounds of the notes, too. I like how you changed your mind from the beginning of the poem to the end where you realized jazz was something you did come to like.
Thanks for sharing.
Respectfully, Jan
