This is great Jesse. To me you are describing our walk through life. And it seems to me you are describing America at the moment. Well done my friend. There are so many great lines to ponder, and to meditate on.

Thanks, my friend, for the exceptional review and rating! What a surprise to see your name and receive the sixth star from you as well! I like your comments...they can certainly, be seen that way it is, true.
I have read a lot of different perspectives on this prose piece and, that makes me glad! Thanks for your kind words...I appreciate them very much! It is great to hear from you, and you know that I value your opinion highly!
Have a good rest of your weekend,
    Jesse

This seems to be a very metaphoric look at retirement. I like death as shooting at stars. Which also could be dreaming of what the righteous thing to do is with your extra time.
Keep writing and stay healthy

Thank you, Joan, for your unique perspective. Actually, I haven't retired since I am on Disability--SSI so, I am not able to retire, Social Security decides, for me. Thanks for the creative idea, anyway!
I am not sure if others see it that way but, it is a viable way to look at it. Thanks for your encouraging comments and excellent rating. I will endeavor to stay healthy in a positive beneficial way! I assure you of this!
Have a beautiful weekend, my friend,

I do agree with what you say. As we age it is easy to lose that feeling of wanting to get out and conquer the world, but there are others at the same place we once were, anxious and ready to take the place of those who have lost the enthusiasm. I believe we should never be too quick to say it is time to retire to the pasture. We should try to regain that passion and keep ourselves part of the scene as long as possible.

I enjoyed the creativity in this piece. I particularly enjoyed the last line, "You can taste defeat but, know that your heart is still aflame with desire, to do something righteous, noble, and profound with your life." This is so true, it's never too late, no matter the topic. I read this a few times to really absorb, well done. I have a six to spare so it's yours my friend!

Yes, relatable are the hands chasing each other around the dial of time. Wonderfully worded. We never know when the hands on the clock are gonna stop? Hope I bought some Energizers, they keep going and going. Enjoyed it, relatable for me.

This, though short, is to the point and chalked full of beauty and grace. We aren't given much time on this earth, so we need to take things as they are given to us no matter the circumstances or outcomes. Everything is a cycle and we all play a part. Thank you so much for sharing such a gorgeous piece!

I really liked your great thoughts and expression in this. Your words are so encouraging. We shouldn't ever give up, even though we'll be replaced by the younger generations. Despite their age, people still want to accomplish something meaningful, and your words are certainly encouragement for them to do just that. Excellent work. judi

Wow, I'm not sure what to make of the message of this writing; it appears to smack of gloom and doom with little sprinkles of hope thrown in here and there. But I respect your opinion.

Its a philosophy of perseverance, that you speak of here. This drive to struggle through the adversity, to hang on in the face of struggle and difficulties. I think there's a great personal tone here that really makes it feel straight from the heart, off the cuff. estory

So many live as if the last chapter has already been written. This fatalism shortens our life span. I counsel too many people who have given up on themselves and others. But to have hope is to have purpose, to have meaning.
I applaud your attitude. Even those who are "wounded" can find purpose.
I want to read more of your work.
