An interesting piece of poetry on one of the most sought after hobbies!:):) We sometimes get unwillingly involved in gossip because we don't want to hurt feelings, say no, and decline the unsolicited information. Thanks for sharing!

Hi Seshadri - you make a very valid point there... sometimes we're stuck between a rock and a hard place as far as gossip is concerned. Thanks for your feedback :) Best wishes, Debra

I liked this. It succinctly defines gossip, that pernicious but delightful pastime of so many. What is the point of acquiring scandalous information if one cannot then share it?

Great image, and a great little poem! I like the food image in the first stanza, and also the description of eyes in the second. You have written it well. Hope you haven't been on the receiving end!

Hi Debs,

You descriptions for people who are addicted to gossiping was fun to read. That picture is hilarious and does full justice to your words. The rhymes make it a delight to read. A little gossip wouldn't hurt anyone. ;) When the days were normal, there is used to enough bitching in the office as well. I miss it sometimes LOL. I enjoyed reading it.

Regards,
Anupam

Hi Anupam :) Thanks for your great feedback. There's always a little bitching in the workplace - it's no different in the staffroom at school! Best wishes as always, Debs x

Hi Debra,
Nice one. You nailed the gossiper very well. I don't think there's room for much in the way of improvement. One could go on and on, but why say more? I'll just offer one small change... I'm thinking, Eager to tell. "Ready" works, (actually quite well with the pairing of "r" words, "Regurgitated/Ready", but when it comes to gossip, a body can't wait to spread the dirt... "spill the beans".
The Bible says:
"... the tongue is a little member and boasteth great things. Behold, how great a matter a little fire kindleth! And the tongue is a fire, a world of iniquity; so is the tongue among our members that it defileth the whole body, and setteth on fire the course of nature, and it is set on fire of hell. For every kind of beasts, and of birds, and of serpents, and of things in the sea, is tamed, and hath been tamed by mankind; but the tongue can no man tame; it is an unruly evil, full of deadly poison." James 3: 5-8
It's a good lesson for us all. Nicely penned! You got my last six of the week.
Hugs,
Kimbob

Hi Kimbob :) Thank you so much for your great feedback and the generous star rating too - I appreciate both very much. It's also very kind of you to share the bible reading with me.
I like your suggestion - 'eager' would make a great alternative to 'ready' - I was going for the alliteration though ;)
Hope you are well... Best wishes as always, Debra x

Oh, this needs publication -- all over! I love it, and I love it because it captures the very essence of that personality -- the character of someone who delights in gossip. But I also enjoyed your word choices ("juicy", "regurgitated") and the rhyme -- all in all, highly evocative and clever.

You nailed gossipping. Brilliant imagery re chewing/spewing tasty morsel--and the whispers/signals. Did a particular incident "prompt" this chapter? Fine work!

    Hi Liz :)
    Nah, no particular incident!
I got my daughter to pick a number between 1-30 and the number she chose was against the word 'bitchin' on my prompt list!
Thank you for your feedback - always appreciated :)

Scripture tells me God is not pleased with back biting. Funny thing He's especially critical of people who criticise government, He installs them, and we either get the government we need, or the government we "deserve". Beautifully written, blessings Roy

Debra,

hahahahaha Have you been eavesdropping on me? I love to know all the gossip, but rarely spread it on. But just this morning, I did. I sent a PM to another member here and even titled it 'gossip'.

Yesterday or the day before I read a poem by a member here that was just ... well... gross. It was tasteless to the extreme. Posted in a contest as a blind entry - but I saw it when I went to do a reciprocal review, so I knew who wrote it. I couldn't get it out of my head. It was creepy.

So I mulled it over thinking I was gonna share it with someone, but couldn't really decide who I was close enough with to do so. I had two or three individuals flash through my mind, but then decided against it. It would just be wrong. Right?

So today I reviewed one of those people and said, hey I was thinking of you recently - I almost dumped some gross stuff on you. Yada, yada, and they said - no, now you HAVE TO SHARE. So, of course, I did.

I'm a horrible human.

You are right. Gossip is bad. Why do we do it? I don't think it's always to make us feel better and smarter and whatever. I do think it's to share something together... Idk.

You've been posting some really good stuff this week. YAY!

    Hey Robyn :)
To be honest, I'm much the same as you.... I like to know what's going on, but I don't pass spread rumours ;)
So, who's the poster of vileness?!
Thank you so much for your great feedback - you're a star :)
    Best wishes as always, Debra

You did good job, Debra, with your poem that speaks the truth about gossip and gossipers. Your lines read well, the rhymes work, and your message is clear. Will it ever end?
Thanks for sharing.
Respectfully, Jan
