We as a society are in that transition stage of the pendulum swinging far too much in one direction - that of absurdity as we try to adjust to accommodating so many changes in society, where mitigating the risk of offending a small number of people is done at the expense of offending even more people. I hope it isn't too long before the pendulum settles into an equilibrium of common sense.

As with everything, we always seem to take things way too far. I respect everyone, and everyone's rights, but I can't help those who have penises for brains. It's kind of like all the fights about allowing transgender people to play sports. However, those with Y and X chromosomes would have a definite advantage over those with two XX chromosomes. And I'm not saying males are superior to females in any way. But they damn sure are stronger and build bigger muscle mass. There I go again, writing another novella. Sorry. Thanks for sharing.
