James Taylor is awesome. He's one of my favorites too. I especially liked 'Fire and Rain.' We're close to the same age, and we remember all the great old music.

James Taylor, Carole King, Carly Simon, Natalie Cole, and Simon and Garfunkel--this list proves your taste in music is as exceptional as your writing. I love all the singers you have mentioned, as well as the Beatles and Elvis. I am truly enjoying your countdown, Sally! xo

Fabulous choice, Sally! I'm a big James Taylor fan. And so is my daughter-in-law, Leslie, and her Mom & Dad. They've gone down to the States to see him in concert a few times. So many great songs! When I was young, and working at Moosehead Breweries, teaching contemporary Christian songs to my Youth Choir, I re-wrote one of his songs for the kids to sing at church. I won't bother showing you the whole song re-written, but just a bit...
"When you're down and troubled
And you need some lovin' care
And nothin', no, nothin' is goin' right
Close your eyes and think of Him
And soon He will be there
To brighten up even your darkest night
(chorus)
You just call out His name ... (Jesus)
And you know, wherever you are
He'll come runnin'
To see you again
Winter, spring, summer or fall
All you have to do is call
And He'll be there, yes He will
You've got a Friend"
*****************************************
Here are a couple of my favorites... "Everyday" and "Don't Let Me Be Lonely Tonight"

We like the same songs!

Kimbob

I am a JT fan and September Grass is one of my favorites. I liked all the singers you mentioned. Our class song in 1972 was "You got a friend." Seniors had to vote between JT and Carole King. JT won. I think your countdown is a hit. This was nicely written.

Just beautiful. I love James Taylor, and I'll have to add this one to my Alexa list. He also did a beautiful one, 'Close Your Eyes'...might be on the same album. Wonderful! Blessings...

I've just chanced upon your jukebox listings. What lovely nostalgic memories of those influential days. Being a similar age to myself, our musical tastes seem very similar - a love of melody, harmony, good lyrics - the good old days! I loved that Sweet Baby James album to death.

Thank you for stopping by, dear Lisa. I'm so glad you enjoyed this. I wasn't too torn up about the album as it had a few scratches anyway. I thrived on a steady diet of James Taylor and most of the ones in this lineup. I'm already plotting the December selections from James' Christmas album. Sending you my best today as always,

This is a great post. I really enjoy James Taylor, too. I love folk and listen to it often. It still gives me a buzz to hear those lovely, haunting melodies and lyrics. Ah, the memories. Well done.

I'd never heard a song by James Taylor but I guess you generation is much later than mine. I do like his voice and I can understand why you like him. Thank you for introducing him to me. I'm sure there is a lot of great music out there I've never heard.
