The swan is my power animal. Maybe this is why the story of the ugly duckling always resonated with me. That and because I was a plain bespectacled child :-))
Your haiga is exquisite.
I love the use of "bitter" to describe the ugly duckling's state of mind as well as the murky waters.
I see the satori flowing better if reversed " beauty unaware". But that's just my semantic preference.

I love swans and this is a beautiful photo of one with your descriptive Haiga Haiku words. The Ugly Duckling story has always been one of my favorites. I also enjoyed reading your Author's Note about it. Smiles, Janet

Gypsy, this is an interesting haiku in that I like aesthetics! Your format enhances the lovely picture of the swan! When a bird is that graceful and lovely, I think she was better off being unaware of just how beautiful she was! Humble instead of overbearing! Great job!

I think there are a lot of human beings like that ugly duckling, thinking themselves unworthy, particularly Christians who don't realise that God has made them the kin of Christ and His high position of King of Kings. Well done, blessings Roy

Hello Gypsy :)
Your haiga haiku is lovely, but made me feel a bit melancholy.
That poor, sad swan that doesn't realise just how beautiful she is.
Stunning imagery and effective use of alliteration in line two.
Gorgeous presentation.
Best wishes as always, Debra
