Just SO pretty!!
I love the villanelle form, and this is wonderfully

This is so relaxing and reassuring to read and ponder. The bird is on the wing and all is right with the world. That all creatures care for their young has a profound way to view life. Loren

I am not familiar with the various forms of poems and this is the first time I am coming across the Villanelle poem. Loved it. A fine contribution for Mother's day. Thanks for sharing.

Hello Yvonne.

This is a wonderfully written story about the mama bird taking great pains to care for the baby birds. The details and your descriptive words drawn an image of what is happening in the nest.

Is a beautifully written Villanelle.

Robert

This is a great Mother's Day poem. That sparrow is a model mom. You describe so vividly the things the sparrow does for her fledglings. I especially like the part where she recalls being a fledgling herself. She'll soon see her young ones take off, just as she did. Beautifully expressed, and you did an excellent job with your repeating lines. judi

Thank you so much for this lovely review, and for the stars! I didn't think of that when I wrote it. Thank you for pointing that out.

This is another one of those forms of poetry that I'm least familiar with. I've tried my hand at it, but it never turns out as smooth as this poem sounds. I love the picture with the poem that enhances the beauty of the words.

Your villanelle is exceptional in every respect--skillfully written, with accurate rhyming and metrical schemes; and movingly descriptive of the little "family" of dependent chicks and caring mother.

What a poetic treat told with a frisson of fear as the tiny sparrow shields its young fledglings from possible imminent danger in their 'mossy bed'-a moment to share from the natural world - a real treat

I enjoyed reading this Villanelle poem. The rhyme scheme is well incorporated throughout the piece. The theme and tone is one of a protective parent protecting the nest. Well presented.
