Melktert

I checked the recipe, it sounds delicious but too difficult to make, for me.
Your poem flows well. It draws on emotions and it presents strong images. Well done.

I enjoyed this - perhaps I should also feel inspired to make one. Just note the spelling of "luscious", just a small detail to edit. Your photo makes it look very tempting, and your words are well chosen.

Egg custard, very sweet and naughty. Not tasted this in ages as I don't buy cakes. But your poem made my mouth water here, love the alliteration, delicious and delicate, love Dolly x

This rhymed poem is short, but composed in a manner that offers just the right amount of description necessary to offer the reader a taste of the sweet treat the piece is written about. Great job.

Your poem makes it sound so yummy (as long as you can have dairy!). It reminds me of a custard, or around here we call it "flan." I like the sound of the crumbly crust with "cinnamon dust."

Hi Debra,
I'm always stuck for inspiration. Earlier today, an idea for a poem came into my pointed head... but I neglected to write it down! And now I can't remember what it was. It would have been a comical poem... that much I remember.
I wondered what "Melktert" was when I saw your title. A sweet pie, the South African Milk Tart. It caused me to remember one of my grandmother's desserts... bread pudding with raisins. She'd pour a bit of cream on top.
I really enjoyed your poem describing this pastry.
Perfect meter for a great flow.
I count 4-4-7 syllables in each verse.
Nice rhymes.
And I like the alliteration of,
"lucsious, luxurious" ... (luscious)
and
"delicate, decadent"
Well done! If I had a six left, it would be yours.
Hugs,
Kimbob

Hello Kimbob :)
Thanks so much for your thoughtful feedback and I?m glad I?m not alone in my struggle for inspiration!
I misread your comment and had to double check myself - you referred to your head as pointed and then said it would?ve been a comical poem... I read it as conical (which tied in with the pointed head comment!) sometimes I amuse myself lol
Thank you for pointing out my spelling error - I blame it on my fnigers!
Best wishes as always, Debra :)

Debra, you have whetted my appetite with this delicacy of cream, crumbly crust, and cinnamon dust! The rhymes are spot on and your choice of words apropos. Alliteration and assonance add to the rhythmic flow. You have created a strong appetency! Great job!

You did a great job, Debra. I like the rhyme scheme that ties the two verses together nicely. The image is perfect for your words. I like the way the last line of both verses rhyme with each other and the other two lines in the verses have their own rhymes. Your words flow smoothly and are descriptive. Now where is the recipe for this awesome treat?
Thanks for sharing.
Respectfully, Jan
