This is true for some. It is good choice of artwork or a good ekphrastic poem. I am not a coffee drinker my self.
Good luck in the contest.
Keep writng and stay healthy.

It's odd to say, but your poem has me salivating for that cup of coffee, and I can't wait for morning. Very folksy and warm. The photo is perfect. Well done.

Nice poem, I like your use of the word Joe. Coffee is my favorite part of the day I think. You sum that up very well here. Thanks for sharing this and have a great day

I've never heard the expression 'a cup of Joe' before, but now that I've looked it up, I see what an extraordinarily appropriate final line it is for your poem. A subtle double meaning.

it is a dated expression from the 50's I believe. part of the beatnik generation.

Oh yes! I can't start my day without a cup of this delightful beverage. All through my four years in the navy I refrained from drinking it. Frankly, there wasn't anything desirable about it on the ship. It was always too strong, set too long and bouncing about on the ocean with an acidic drink might have set the stage for an unpleasant encounter. However, in the comfort of my home, there is nothing I enjoy more first thing in the morning. Well done.

interesting perspective - coffee on a ship must have been ghastly at times.
