The lead-up to this scenario is quite packed with various events and new feelings. However, this seems to bear the importance and the crux of this book. We await the next chapter.

This sub-plot works well for giving Maddie something to worry about besides the mystery. It's good to know that her relationship with her mother will continue in the series. It's also good to know that this is going to be a series! Thank you for introducing me to the Cozy Mystery Witch genre!

I like how you prepared us for the legal meeting between mother and daughter with that subway encounter with a mother and daughter. It gives us more compassion as we see Maddie connect with the child. I hope Maddie's mother will accept the wishes of Maddie's father. But that seems to be part of the plot so I'm guessing, it won't go smoothly.

I liked both the form and the content of this book chapter (read out of context, as I hadn't read the earlier chapters). It seemed easy to fall into the book in the middle, it almost read as a long short story, but maybe that was intentional.

Hmm, a very well crafted chapter. It was a grand example of how world building in a first person point of view tale should and could be. You added just a touch of the magical world intertwined with a majestic and mundane regular world. Good character descriptions too.
