You hit the nail on the head with this one. Those years for me were filled with working two jobs to help out my family, and dealing with my dad's death when I was 15. I'm glad that time warp passed relatively quickly. Thanks for sharing. :)

Bill, I like your poem.
My years between twelve and 20 were fun, yet I carried a lot of angst about teenage worries. I think those years are also turbulent for many, the Essenes you capture in your excellent poem.

Oh, those teenage years. I was just a simple country girl, and it's so much more difficult for teens now. So many more choices, so many more decisions to make. The time warp comment is a good one. That's what those years are. Girls have their problems during those adolescent years, too. Great entry, and best of luck in the comments.

You used a masculine image but if course the change affects the female gender as well. And it probably happens earlier with girls. My ten year old granddaughter told me with an air of complete self assurance that she was about to go through puberty.
I think this masterful 242 will be in the winner's circle.

Dear Bill, Even if this was not promoted, this great 2-4-2 poem deserves a review. I have not heard this great truth about the human race, expressed so well. And in so few words. Either you are a genius or a higher power uses your mind and fingers to warn us All, that we are not dealing with rational people.
