I remember when Garden Party came out. I actually enjoy the music and he srars in my wife, Anna's, favorite John Wayne movie Rio Bravo. Very nice job. Keep'em coming.

Ricky Nelson. Oh I do remember watching the Ozzie and Harriet Show and seeing Ricky Nelson sing at the end. It was a shift from the early rock and roll songs to the relaxed sound that he returned with. He was heavily managed by his father and was a bit of a lost soul at the end.

Thank you very much for the excellent review of my post. Yes he did have a rather bad go at the end. I chose not to focus on that as I typically do in most of my music posts. Most musicians had something to prey upon, and were typically all over the pages, whether it was true or not.
Sending along my very best, Sally :))

Hi Sally,
I could have been handsome, like Ricky Nelson. But the gurls wouldn't leave me alone as it was!
Great choice for #47... who do I thank, you or Gloria?
Such a shame about this talented man. He died in a plane crash at the age of 45. Planes have taken away a lot of great talent... John Denver, Stan Rogers, Buddy Holly, and Jim Croce to mention just a few.
The Rickie Nelson songs that stand out for me:
Poor Little Fool/1958
Hello Mary Lou/1961
Travelin' Man/ 1961
He was one of the stars just before the Beatles triggered the British Invasion.
I'm enjoying your choices, Sal'. Keep up the good work!
Hugs,
Kimbob

Thank you for the lovely review and for clearing up the handsome thing. I'm so glad you enjoyed this. This was spawned by Gloria, but since I graduated from the College of Rock n' Roll Knowledge with honors like you, I can usually pull something together. I think you have me beat, my friend. I sit at your feet. I'm glad you're enjoying these. Sending you my best today as always,
Sal XOs...

I'm not at the house right now, Sally, but as soon as I get home I'll play that song. :) Ricky Nelson was one of my favorite singers. Teenage idol was my favorite song. He died too young in that plane with other greats. :(

I had a thing for Ricky Nelson. I remember how crazy I was over him even after all these years. Thank you so much for sharing this with us. I am so looking forward to it. I'm dancing as I'm listening.

I did not want to like this piece! I didn't, I didn't, I didn't!
But I do. You wrote it so well, and evoked so many nostalgic feelings in me. This is the type of writing one might find in a magazine or as a feature in a daily newspaper; it is written very professionally, and it is truly entertaining. Dammit, I just had to read this, didn't I?

Thanks for stopping by, dear skeptic. So glad you finally gave in. Sending you my very best as always,
Sal :))

Not so much a skeptic as I am a pragmatist. The prompt you were given makes it difficult to be artistic, but you did it. You're a very good writer, Sally. I really appreciate your literary pieces.
-
Thank you. I prompted myself with this series and I'm so glad you gave me a try. Blessings for your day,
Sal :))

You're welcome.

I still melt at the sound of his voice. It was so exciting to watch him on the TV show Ozzie & Harriet. Then to feel almost as if I knew him whenever I heard him singing a song. I see this happening to several current singers: Demi Lovato and one who has chang3d radically since she won America's Got Talent, Grace VanderWaal. The same complaints are being whined about as with Ricky: "was a direct jab to the those who wanted Ricky to look the same, and sing the same ol' songs. His self-discovery rattled quite a few;"

Sally:
My entire family watched "The Adventures of Ozzie and Harriet," from the time I was a one-year-old until I was fifteen. I was so sorry when his plane flew into the side of that mountain. What a great loss!
