Poor Reese. It seems to me like you have a big problem. First she thinks your little girl is "just a dog," now she expects you to take on new challenges and be productive? Never having met the lady in question, I am loathe to pass judgement. Perhaps she knows things you don't tell us. -- I laughed all the way through this.

To make a lady laugh is among the most important things a man does. As I might have said before, but is relevant here, after being married to a yankee, I fully understand how my side lost that war. But, we find fun along the way... Thanks for reading and your happy review! Now, go to your husband and say, "Honey, you're working too hard. Sit down. Relax. Can I get you a beer? How about a drink? How about a nice wine, something sassy, but not obtrusive..." I lead a rich fantasy life, do I not?

We Yankee women tend to demand fair trade. But with us, what you see and hear is what you get. No southern belle wiles for us. Tell her I think she's terrific and I know we'd be friends. :-)

I am afraid that the "Charm of the South" has become "Fire from the Mouth", "Southern Belle" has become "Daily Heck". I blame the main stream media and liberal universities. Anyway, I cleaned up my latest poem a little. Put more rhythm in my rhymes. BTW, my wife has been in Houston helping with the grandkids. So, I've had three days without adult supervision. Golf every day, done nothing on the list, life is good! Reality returns this evening...

I didn't like the rhyming scheme, but that is personal preference. Aside from that, I thought that the poem was humorous, whimsical, and well written. The last stanza was particularly poignant, being a retired person myself. All in all, I'd say that you are a talented writer who can bring out a chuckle and a moan in your poetry.

Thanks for stopping by. My poetry was inspired very early in life by Dr. Seuss. Humor and rhyme are where I focus. I never had much rhythm.
There are lots of poems that don't rhyme, others that don't rhythm. Dr. Seuss and I are about 1/3 closer to the rhyme side, he better than I, of course.

A humorous story. You are re-tired...tired yesterday and tired again today. Rhyme and thyme schemes are slightly uneven in some lines. I read the poem aloud three times but missed the flow. There must be a beat to make it complete. Success to you

How special to hear from a lady from South Africa! My career took me to many countries, but I never got to yours. I have a good friend here in Texas who visits there every year or so. He just swears by it. I assume you are or were a teacher. I have one daughter who is. Anyway, thanks for your review and interest. God Bless

How very nice to receive such a warm and friendly message. I am indeed a born and bred South African. I guess a Texan will relate to our wide open spaces and desert regions such as the Karoo and Kalahari. Sunburnt and dry. There are mountains bordering the country in the south wrst and the Indian Ocean with its warm current on the east coast. The terrain remains spectacular where people are not destroying the ecology. Kind regards. Oh, yes I do teach. I am a minister

Sending you a message. By the way, I cleaned up my latest poem to put more rhythm in my rhymes. Thanks for the suggestion!
