Good Morning, Liz.
I seem to recall your panic about cat hair, and that your guests had better come prepared with a heavy duty lint brush, or sticky roll. How did things go?
Chuck to the rescue, eh? What kind of casserole did he conjure up?
I love this line,
"My duties as regards housecleaning were mitigated in that my slothful self did not volunteer to vacuum the fur-garnished furniture." I found it so funny that you referred to yourself as "slothful self". Yer a real hoot, Liz.
Hugs,
Kimbob

Chuck made a chicken/cornbread casserole topped with cheese--it was a big hit! Glad you got a chuckle.

Mocking and pocking as usual:) I laughed reading your conclusion -
I was delightfully surprised that several who reviewed my piece expressed similar sentiments. Their enthusiasm for entertaining had dissipated; they'd grown accustomed to social isolation and have found solace on this site.
Six stars for StoryLand, where visits are virtual and vacuuming is moot. - You are right we don't know how to behave anymore

Nothing fills the void of human contact. Just like nothing can terrorize the human mind more than a house full of aggravating know-it-all braggarts. Welcome back to some sort of normalcy. The parts we've missed, and the realization of what we haven't missed at all. Thanks for sharing.

I love your writing style:
-'My sociable side had been in hibernation for the past year; I was loath to rouse it.' I always say that sometimes I get the urge to invite the whole family over for dinner. Then I lie down until I feel better.
-'(My duties as regards housecleaning were mitigated in that my slothful self did not volunteer to vacuum the fur-garnished furniture.)' The imagery is so funny (fur-garnished).
This is a great flash!
Anytime you need support for justifying not cleaning your house, just call!

I'll raise a glass to that, Liz :)
How did your evening pan out though? Hope it was a success...
Best wishes as always, Debra

Another great thing about FS is that no cooking is required.
My pajamas are my favourite clothes these days. We only had a one month lockdown a year ago here in NZ, but I enjoyed it so much I pretend it's still happening, apart from the odd sortie out into normal life.

I think I concurred with you earlier that I like not socializing, if it comes to any additional work on my part. I've not had company in over a year other than my kids stopping by and I'd like to keep it that way. Truthfully though, I've never been a great fan of entertaining, although over the years I've done plenty of it. Fanstory and visits to the Y three times a week takes care of my social needs.

Okay...hate this Corona thing....would love the world to be vaccinated and illness to stop! that said, it's just so darn comfy to curl up and connect with friends whose writing and comments I can enjoy while dust balls the size of tumbleweeds are out of FS sight and therefore off my mind! Amazing how we adapt, isn't it? Of course I miss in home socializing....but not the major effort it will take to bring my abode up to Board of health standards! (Well, not QUITE that bad.)...But when given the option to scrub, dust, or review....guess what wins out?!--Karenina

Liz,
I often warn new people, "Welcome to FS. I fell sure you will come to it just as much as the rest of us do.
"Now, go ahead and sell the TV, radio, gym memberships, recliner, kitchen table and toaster, etc. You won*t need them anymore; you*ll be far too absorbed here to eat or participate in other nonsense activities.
"Next, pack the family off for a bit, maybe to grandma*s? Not too long. Just till the kids are able to get places of their own and wifey gets the message.
"Yep, we*re gone have a ball. Nice to meet you!
Haha
