Your story held my interest, I like how it is written from your viewpoint as a child. Excellent descriptive words that make the swimming pool a clear scene, even though it is a muddy pool. I am glad your cousin rescued you after diving into the pool.

What a lovely idea, Janet. The memories you are able to share with others are always a treat. You were either very brave or very silly jumping into the water, you really could have drowned. Thank you Sandra for your thoughtful review. You are so kind to say "silly". I think jumping in the murky water was one of my dumbest moves. I never did learn to swim well, but I took my children to the local "Y" and they learned at a very early age.

My one recommendation is to somehow insert the fact that Miss Swanson, despite her eagle eyes and nosiness, missed your little adventure. Otherwise, I'm not sure why she's mentioned.

The picture you chose was well suited for this story. I love how you lead the reader along about how you did what you did but didn't want to get caught. Starting out by telling us about the old lady who died, was an excellent way to set the mood.
