Good entry for the contest. Rhyming is good, and words flow very smoothly. I like the lines: "The values we place on our past,
will greatly determine our fate." We all need to learn from our successes and our failures.

Hey Anne, Thank you so much for taking the time to read and review: "Look before you Leap." Thank you as well for the five beautiful stars! Embrace the love from Above!

Well! This is a fine bit of rhyming poetry ~ chock full of good advice on how we should best treat our past. We can't change it, but we surely can treasure either the fine memories made OR the difficult but important lessons learned! Love how your title snuggled in nicely to your final lines... Clever! Best of luck in the contest!----Karenina

This poem, Look Before You Leap, presented in four quatrains, gives a nod to the painful lessons of the past which help us negotiate new areas with a healthy caution.

This piece is woven rhythmically and offers a good message. An enjoyable read. We must learn from mistakes and even the choices made with positive influence, for what is life if we do not continue to grow and improve with each passing day.

Memories obviously remind us of our past, some good, some not so good, but they both have the function of having shaped us and for what it's worth, som positive things. But bring to mind those most happy events that we can visit when we wish, bringing comfort and solace. Beautifully written entry in this rhyming poetry contest, in tetrameter with abcb rhyming, well done, good luck, blessings Roy

It is true that memories can be of all sorts, good and bad. But it is our duty to learn from all of them and let our morals lead our life.
Good luck, keep writing and stay healthy.

I would say, I'm thankful for the connection! If a piece has beautiful structure and exquisite words but misses the mark of connection, there is no impact. I write for impact! Thank you for reading and reviewing. Thanks for the four stars that you gave me.

You're welcome!

I love this poem, I understand what you mean. Looking back on all the mistakes I've made helps me to avoid making them again. Happy or sad memories, I welcome them all. Thanks for sharing and best of luck in the contest. :)

Doc,
This poem has a lovely message that we need to learn much earlier in life than we usually do, unfortunately. At least, as we age, we generally get a little better at it. Thanks!
