I think this is a great and powerful poem. I did not even know it was written to read a certain way, until I got to the end notes. To me that's a good sign. What I'm trying to say is, I never write the quote-on-quote writers' way... and I'm flagged for it all the time, yet your( right) way of writting reads beautifully and alot like mines...thank you for sharing.

For in your gut reside billions of bacteria and fungi which are the biological drivers ,
As in holding the wheel.
They sense everything outside the body.
Inside the body.
And in the brain.
Scary ha?
So trust your gut feeling.

Fun and instructive poem! (And that picture of those boys jumping with their slippers on shows us what NOT to do. Lol.) We all can learn a lot from our past experiences. I like how you used the same -ate rhyming in all your even number lines throughout the four stanzas. Best wishes in the contest!

I wanted to rate you more. I love your poem and it has a strong meaning. It can compare with life as well. Lot of times we jump before we thing but don't stop writing. I am getting a book of 32 poems poems published and they offered me a contract. I was so happy. Never stop being as good as you. Keep up the good work.

Leann, thank you for noticing the uniqueness of my poem. If I were to be honest with you, and why not, when it comes to literary stuff like poems, I don't know what's universal, or unique. I don't write that many poems but when something strikes my fancy I just write it down. One thing that has been drilled into my head in the times I have jumped in and back out of FanStory since 2014, is that there syllable count. There is wisdom in the poem "Look Before You Leap". That last line is priceless and should be engraved on every child's heart.
