The poem tells the story of a delicious impromptu breakfast. The author's obvious enjoyment of the syrupy concoction is clearly evidenced within the poem's descriptive language. Nice job.

Being from the wrong side of the pond to follow this kind of culinary detail, I am severely hampered in judging this poem. I can only say that the description sounds interesting, and the picture shows delicious-looking food. Way to go!

Well, if you can find any corn bread mix or yellow corn meal and a recipe, they're pretty good. was "talking" with a gal from England who had never had cornbread but she said she might try it.
Might be a whole new experience ;)
    thanks for reading it.

Hello Katharine.

The pace and rhyme of the poem is very good and it has a happy theme to accompany the pace. Every thing I bake starts in a box. When my wife complains, I tell her it's her turn. It still comes from a box.

Oh yum. That sounds wonderful. I've never heard of peach cobbler syrup, but I'm sure the taste is out of this world. I saw your note at the bottom. Who would believe that five years ago the land fill was probably full of those bottles. My daughter has a Mrs. Butterworth's bottle. Strange what has value.
Have a good evening.

    Hi Katherine,
Thanks. I haven't forgotten about the custard recipe, although it's nothing special. Just been busy. Yesterday drove three hundred miles to visit the sealife center in Seward Alaska, today it's been raking the back yard. There is such a short time frame in Alaska to get things done, that we have to use every opportunity to work outside while we can. Have a great evening.

Thanks for the tip. Hmmm. Come to think of it, it's been such a long time since I made any cornbread. Thanks for reminding me of it. Sounds like a delicious breakfast!

I've never heard of fruit syrups. They sound yummy. You didn't give us the name of the company. Please. That's a neat poem you wrote about your breakfast.

Hello Katharine :)
I've never before tasted a corn bread muffin but it sounds absolutely delicious, especially toasted and served with the fruit syrup.
(Recipe please!)
I enjoyed reading your poem, it made me hungry though LOL
Best wishes as always, Debra

well, I'm glad to see you're feeling better. You are, aren't you?
Now I'm embarrassed. I used a corn bread mix. I used to make cornbread from scratch, with sautéed onions, corn kernels, sour cream and cheese, but for just plain ones, I generally use a mix. in our grocery stores there must be about ten or so different brands of mix. Do you have them? If not, use yellow corn meal. I'll see if I can Google up a good recipe for you. :)

I love your poem. Great rhyming and easy to read.
"Decided on a breakfast that
Might seem a little strange
But it was yummy and it made
A most delicious change."
It's always nice to do things different once in awhile and this breakfast sounds delicious.

Silly me! I must have thrown away that Aunt Jemima bottle. I must say a peach cobbler syrup sounds delicious. My husband and I order from Vermont Country Store sometimes. That sounds like something they might have. I'd prefer mine on pancakes, though. Great rhyme in this, Your description makes the muffins sound truly yummy. judi
