Excellent entry into this contest. Seeing dogs are amazing, and I would think in addition to being on the job, as long as their harness is on, they are also good company.
Wishing you much luck with the Committee. :)

Thank you, Gloria, for your supportive review and comments. I've met a few guide dogs and they are, indeed, lovely companions when not working. I also have had a few pets who I feel would make outstanding guide dogs. Hugs and blessings to you.

Leann,
I think you did a great job on your 5-7-5 entry. Your form is good and your first two lines are a great lead up to your final thoughts expressed.
If you dropped the 'a' and wrote 'blind person's journey' then it's more inclusive and you eliminate the unnecessary 'a.'
Of course, you can toss that suggestion.
Your poem brings to our attention an important sector of our population and the challenges they have...how dogs assist. It also reminds us to be grateful if we can see.
Thanks for that,
AnnaLinda

That is a great suggestion. I hate using articles in my 5-7-5 pieces, but I just get stuck. I also tend to want to use prepositions a lot. I am very new to this poetry style, and it kills me to not write in total sentences. Ha ha thank you for your review and suggestion. I will keep practicing. :-) Hugs.

Haha, we are opposite in that respect.
That's why I'll count on you for the meter and rhyme...You can count on me for the short stuff...I guess.

A nicely written 5-7-5 poem. Nice presentation background colour choice and font. Beautiful photo to compliment your poem as well. Good luck in the contest.

Hello :)
I enjoyed reading your 5/7/5 poem.
It is well written and made me consider how extra challenging the journey of life must be for some. A guide dog is the perfect navigator and companion for those who have no sight. Beautifully written and presented.
Good luck in the voting booth.
Best wishes, Debra

Great poem. We don't stop to think what life might be like for someone disabled. Their dogs are not just family, but they are really an extension of that handicap person. Good luck with the contest.

Hello, anonymous,
Good entry for the 5-7-5 writing prompt contest. Good syllables count and connection between lines. Nice presentation but the shadow is of a woman in a suit with a big purse. Good luck.

This says a great deal about the whole story of life of a blind person. His life and the dog's are so intertwined as they navigate life together, in full dependence on each other. Powerfully written. Best wishes for the contest.

And how admirable for both of them. Trust is a wonderful thing.
The blind man's life depends on his dog, literally, and truthfully, it works the same for the dog. What a fine relationship; and with time, I feel sure, trust and love combine.
This is a meaningful poem. Very nice.

What a gift a guide dog is to so many and what a committment they have to their owners. I think those who train them must also be so committed. And, yes, the dogs must also have great trust in the owners.
