A delightful poem, but who is Alexa? Have I missed something? She sounds like she calls a spade a spade and in the end would be a good match for Fauci.

ah, Ralf - it's that device in the picture. you ask her anything from the weather or to play a song - just about anything and she does, but there are those who thing she is spying on people - and she very well may be.

Ha ha....I love this.
My Alexa does the same.
But...I have 25 playlists of music
downloaded on her...I'm keeping her.
But it's true...I think she's listening!!
Blessings...

I'm going to have to ask my daughter when she comes next time to show me how to download stuff on her. That would be nice. and i may say something startling just to see if she says anything.

All you have to do is....
    1. Say 'Alexa'...'Create a playlist'
    2. She will ask you what you want to call
    the playlist.
    3. I had over 700 songs...so I started with numbers...I said 'playlist #1...
    4. Then, I asked her to play a song that I wanted to download....she would.
    5. While it was playing, I said...'Alexa'...'Add this to my playlist'
    6. She'll ask which playlist...
    7. I'd say...'Playlist #1...
    8. After about 50-60 songs...I'd ask her to create a playlist
    9. Same thing...'playlist # 2'...

Until I had all my songs

Very few she couldn't find, so long as you have the internet, she pulls them from Amazon...you can do this with Christian music, Christmas songs...Irish ballads....very interesting!!!

You're welcome!!! I got on the internet and looked up music for the 60's, 70's, 80's...then asked her to play them, then added them to my playlists...that's how I got so many. It took a couple months, ha ha....

I don't have an Alexa, so I don't know her workings. She probably would rat you out to Dr. Fauci if you weren't following guidelines. She must be nice to have around, but sounds like she could be intrusive. She could be useful when it comes to doing something you like, such as playing a song you want to hear, but does that make up for annoying presence? She probably does act as a spy. Very clever and so appropriate, and excellent rhyme and flow. judi

well, you'll be pleased to know, she's unplugged. However, who knows, that may not matter. Now there's a scary thought.
Thank you for your always nice comments.

You're welcome. She surely can't pull any stunts if she's unplugs. judi

ha ha! That's why I don't have an Alexa! We also don't have a TV with a camera in it, although my laptop has one. I get really paranoid when I'm texting with a friend and say something in jest like, "On, go soak your head!" and five minutes later an ad comes up on my phone advertising a soaking tub !! :0
Anyway, I really liked your poem.

thank you! Yeah, it drives my sister crazy how quickly ads pop up on her computer when she mentions an item. Your example is funny. That's really stretching it. I don't get the pictured ads, but I do get emails from stores.
    Thanks again for reading!!

Good Lord Katherine- it's 1984 again! I won't have one of those things, I feel like my life is already on display to the government as it is. I don't doubt that this site is monitored like so much else. There is a paranoia in people who do wrong and fear being called out. I almost hate to drive my car because I know that the GPS can give my position and the computer can be accessed to shut down the darn thing if they so desired. Time to buy a horse I guess. Good poem.

    smiling, in spite of....
My sister gave it to me a couple of years ago and it was fun to ask for songs while I was getting ready for the day, but now, like you say, our lives are an open book to anybody who wants to condemn us for our thoughts.
But you can have the horse - although I used to love to ride - I'll keep my nifty white SUV. By the way, her name is Magnolia, Nolie for short :)

Hello Katharine :)
I love your sense of humour and really enjoyed reading your well written rhymed poem.
We haven't invited 'Alexa' into our home, much to the children's disgust... I do believe that she is a spy!
Best wishes, Debra

I think so, too. She is unplugged.
Of course, cell phones probably aren't any safer.
    Are'ntcha glad I said that? ;)

A lovely humorous touch here when talking about one of our new tecchie 'friends' - Alexa and her winning and not-so- winning ways- so difficult to tell who a friend really is !!!!

our phones and apps track us, Alexa and others listen in, we think we are superior with our tech savvy, but we have no real idea what else the knowledgeable pieces are doing besides what we are told. Nothing is safe anymore. Privacy a thing of the past. Smiles, Carol

I enjoyed this read a lot. I like your rhymes. They are usually solid and interesting, and amusing to boot. Here, my favourite one is
UNLESS, like my friends have been saying,
That Big Tech is spying on me--
I've nothing to hide, but I think that
It's time that we part company!

Nearly finished now!
Keep your nose to the grindstone!

I'm way behind and coughing up money because I don't have enough time to review. But I'm a'truckin'.
Thanks. At any rate I leared a lesson, here!

I refuse to cough up real money, so I'm just no longer promoting, and that's it! (I'll prepare better next year).

I never had an Alexa but I do ask Google questions. I don't like the idea that something could be accidentally listening in. I wonder if she heard you reading something aloud in the office? And the sound was too faint so instead of saying, "Excuse me, could you say it louder" (something she's not programmed for) she claims ignorance! Lol.

well, actually I have heard that our cell phones, computers can be "listened to". Probably nothing is private.
