Wow, this is heavy, and goes to show how times have changed since the 60s'. It was and still is, a shame how the returning veterans from that conflict were treated like vermin and not celebrated for the efforts they put forth in the name of freedom. You told the story well, and used your words wisely, to get the most across with the least amount of words possible. Thank you for bringing up this important issue.
Have a great week,
Jesse

Dear Mystery Writer,

What a horrible label. I know some of those people were pacificists - but I think some were just chicken. I don't blame them, I'd be scared, too. But you should throw aspersions on the guys doing their jobs with honor.

A note:
--> "They don't feel it's a just war and anybody (who) serves there is a baby killer."

Thanks!

Nice job. You used your words wisely. The conversation between the mom and kid make the spine of the story. It makes us see life through a child's perspective and what we dont rectify, he/she will believe. Keep it up!

You did a great job with a sad story. Your picture plus words make an impact, Mystery Author. I enjoyed reading your well thought out story though it is poignant. Those shouted words were offensive and so hurtful to the men and women who served proudly and many fought and died for our freedom. Best wishes.
Thanks for sharing.
Respectfully, Jan

Too bad it ended on that line. It would have been interesting to see how and if the mom would answer that important question. Well crafted and a good entry.

notes:

They don't feel it's a just war and anybody {wqho} serves there is a baby killer."

-who or delete it and just change serves to serving
