What a great story! Just like some of the things we, United States citizens, are experiencing today, clothes minded people don't want to listen to other peoples realities. I was not born until 1968, so I don't remember the Vietnam era firsthand, but the stories about how our soldiers were treated always makes me so sad. Thank you for sharing this. Hugs and blessings to you.

This is a quite dramatic and well-written piece of flash fiction. I can see how you feel about the Viet Nam war, and I hope there's not a bit of truth in your fictive piece. Many hippies were sincere about their allegations, but it was a shame that they wouldn't look beyond the soldiers who were doing their duty for their country, and looked instead at changing the government that was promulgating the war effort.

This is an outstanding entry for the Flash from the Past contest. It brings back so many memories--most of them sad. I hope today's veterans never hear anything like it. Excellent writing.

Hello Friend,
"Mom, was dad a baby killer?" It sparks a flash, and the rest is above as a Flash Fiction meeting the desired norms, having lucid as well as perfectly matching the theme phraseology, captivating flow throughout from the beginning to the end, and beautifully depicting its theme.
Impressive Presentation!
BEST OF LUCK in the contest.

-A very good image and story.
-Your notes are appreciated.
-Veterans should never be
disparaged unless they were
in the wrong for something they did.
-It certainly doesn't include their
service to their country.
-You have a very good introduction;
good dialogue between the mother and son,
and a very good concluding line.
-Good luck in the contest.

This is an excellent and heart breaking piece of flash fiction. You've said so much in a few words and followed the contest rules. Very well done. Good luck in the contest.

This is a powerful story about an era when the country was in turmoil. Older men sat in administrative offices and sent young men (and women who volunteered) to war. Everyone should read the book "The Things They Carried," by Tim O'Brien, to understand the horrors experienced by VietNam veterans. Thank you for this story. Best wishes in the contest.

Thank you very much. I've read The Things We Carried. If you want to read a better one with a lot of different perspectives try Everything We Had by by Al Santoli. I appreciate you taking the time to read and review my story.

This story about the 60's, speaks volumes about how words, once uttered cannot be taken back, and how the impact of those words resonate for years to come. This story holds a powerful message. Thank you for sharing this work.

That was a most unfortunate time for your country and mine, there were so many bitter words spoken and aimed against the fighting men, whatever one's political leaning was, it wasn't the fighting men who were to blame, so many badly hurt, regretful, well done, good post, blessings and good luck, blessings Roy

That is a sad story; and that poor boy! That must hurt, and of course, the troops were condemned for something the majority didn't do. A sad war that never ended for those soldiers who did manage to get home alive.Well done, this story is most thought-provoking. Good luck in the contest. :)) Sandra xx
