I liked everything about this poem, except that it was sad, but that goes along with the ingredient of truth, which is a vital part of what makes this an excellent poem. I think this will do very well in this contest. It is not only well-written, but has emotion and is beautifully presented. Good luck. MM

Your poem speaks for many military families. It's rough on a marriage when one spouse has to be gone months at a time and the worry that takes toll in itself. I'm glad that your marriage and love have stayed Army Strong! Unfortunately, my son's did not. He came home to find his wife had found someone else. He'd been gone almost half of his young son's life. They had been high school sweethearts. Some just can't handle being alone for so long. My ex-daughter-in-law gave it a good try. It happens. I was a military wife as well so I can understand what happened.
Thank your husband for his service and thank you for yours. The wife fights her own battles at home alone. You are as important as they are, your jobs are just different. God bless you both and keep on being Army Strong in this Army of One.

A very poignant piece of poetry. Thought the use of the refrain" our love was strong and did not die" really kept your piece very tight and concise as well as giving it a great sense of rhythm. Fantastic work with this poem.
