This is such a touching tribute to your love for your husband and to him.
Your repeating the line:"Our love still strong and did not die." not only strengthens your powerful writing but also shows your reader, the true depth of your love.
Good luck in the contest.
Regards,
Mary

Hi PHarp,
Wow, this made tears come to my eyes... Very strong emotion and love expressed here. Yes, we can never forget our wonderful Vets that fought for us and our freedoms. They may come home but they bring their memories with them. We need to honor and help them and your excellent poem conveys that in a most poignant way.
So well done and presented with an apt image to accompany this lovely poem.
Best wishes,
Senyai

This was such a touching poem describing being away for a long length of time and your love stood the test of time and was that strong and did not die! I really liked the line where you said that you were US Army strong!

This was a beautiful and moving poem about the power of love. I liked your refrain: "Our love is strong and did not die". I once penned a Kyrielle sonnet myself, but this was years ago and I don't even remember all the rules.
Great imagery, visuals and presentation. I really enjoyed this.

Pharp:
After my brother came home from his second tour of duty in Vietnam I realized that not all those who were MIAs were left behind in Vietnam. I suspect most, if not all, our veterans who have been to war come back with a piece of their soul missing. Your poem is an elegant reminder of just that. Good luck in the contest.

We tend to look at soldiers from our own country's perspective, but my mind has wandered to the thousands upon thousands of generations of soldiers throughout time, regard only our own in a positive way. Who are the heroes? My brother was conscripted, wounded and came home, he thought nothing of it, my father in WW2 the same. But the loved ones left behind, maybe they were the sacrificial helpless victims, it's a moot question. Forgive me, I feel a little grey today, beautifully written Portia, blessings Roy

Roy,
I can understand your feelings; so often, the families are forgotten for their sacrifice; war takes too much from all.
Embracing that day when there will be no more wars, pain, nor tears.
Thanks so much for your review and for sharing your thoughts. Blessings, my friend. Portia
