This poem was already haunting (to me), but then reading your notes added another layer of sadness. Writing is great therapy and it sounds like you are going through so much. Don't feel that your son's message to you is final. Stay faithful that his heart will soften and make its way to you, for communication and healing. Thank you so much for sharing, and be good to yourself. All is not lost!

I'm so sorry to hear that your son wants no more correspondence from you. How sad. One day he may regret that decision. Your entry tells how hard this is on you. God bless!

Follows all the rules of poetry including rhyme and no typos etc. Very sad storyline, as a mother I feel the pain of her loss. I truly hope this is totally fiction. God bless

I am so sorry. This is unbelievably sad to have a son estranged from you. Your poem expresses this grief very well and with heart-breaking realism. Good wishes for your entry.

This is a nicely written poem for the memories writing prompt. It has a great flow and rhyme. Very sad though. Nice background colour and font good luck in the contest.

This lento memories poem, Mournful Memories, is a sad verse which pulls at the readers heart, as children can be cruel with their decisions.

My mom told me when I had my first child (a son)--to get ready for the two hardest jobs of my life:

1) Teach him how to walk.

2) Teach him how to walk away.

I was young and did not understand the import of that advice then...
We wait with our hearts in our throat when they stand upright, wiggling on jelly legs, then propel themselves forward...alone! We are determined to protect the at all costs from any fall.

Later, when we've instilled in them self assurance (we hope)--and independence (we hope)-- Alas, we stand stalwart as they walk away...find their path...

We NEVER imagine those steps would lead to a path that ends without us somewhere along the way...

It is heartbreaking...

It is life, too often...

Our love remains constant, even when we hate the distance we look for hope that distance will close.

God bless you...

He is thirty-five?
Still and always your son...still that baby you wished the best for...

Time may bend him back to you!

That's heartbreaking. I've been through something similar and you should always understand that it's his problem, and not to blame yourself. No one knows what happens with people, it's just to bad he didn't tell you himself. Best of luck in the contest.

The author's words are heartfelt, sad, clear and creative. When I read
the author's notes my heart just broke. I will pray for you. The poem
is filled with emotion and I hope one day things will change. The artwork
is beautiful and compliments the theme and words of this poem.
