I have fond memories of the sixties and seventies music and you brought it all to life here in your poem, it was a time of enlightenment and joy and also unrest, much enjoyed, love Dolly x

I really love the spirit of this poem! Music of the 60s is very iconic. I love The Monkees music. I think you have created a beautiful tribute to the music of this decade.

Smiles to you Boogienights about the Music of the 60s
You are so right when you wrote
Music can soothe the soul,
it can be an absolution.
It can lead to change,
it can start a revolution.

Boogie nights, I grew up in the "Monkeys" and Beatles too! I used to watch the Monkeys " sit com.
Many can look back and relate to your memory poem; many others can only imagine with envy what that they did not get to experience the musical genius of these two groups.
Excellent poem!
Best wishes in the contest.
Blessings,
Cindy

Thank you for reading. I faithfully watched their show and alternately fell in love with each of them every week. Thanks again for this great review. :)

Your poem describes an era of music that did start a "revolution." The Beatles led the charge, but as you point out the Monkees played a key role. I especially like stanza #9 describing the clothes and the times.

I well remember the Monkees. Davy Jones was a favorite of all the girls I believe. I still hear him on Sirius radio on Saturday afternoons with Cousin Brucie. I' ve always enjoyed music, and I grew up in the fifties and sixties when the country was undergoing a lot of social changes. I wish we could return to those times when social change didn't mean burning down your city or trying to change the constitution. Some of the best music ever came from the sixties and early seventies. Thanks for reminding me of the band.
Well done.

A wonderful tribute to the music of the 60's. This rhyming poem speaks volumes about the cultural impact that music can have on a generation, and for that matter, many generations. Well composed and well presented.

I grew up with the same music as you, brought to us on those days mainly by the trusty transistor radio!
I enjoyed your look back at the music and th 'other stuff; of that tumultuous era. Your abcb rhyming fulfils the prompt and I am sure the theme will bring a smile to a lot of older readers.
Good luck.
