Comment from Sharon Davis
A poignant and heartwarming poem that highlights the comfort that the chance to say goodbye can have both for the ones leaving and the ones left behind. Thank you for sharing this piece.

Comment from Pantygynt
Rhythmically free this poem is bound by a unity of rhyming couplets. It is valedictory in the sense that it is essentially a farewell to a friend who is shortly to die of an incurable affliction.
The subject is a mass of contradictions such as looking weak but being strong, laughter and tears. It is probably the best way to face the inevitability of death.

This is such a lovely, moving poem. YES--be with that dying loved one, at a gathering, and celebrate life, tell stories, and share memories! Too often, this celebration of life doesn't happpen till--well, it's too late!

If we can celebrate someone's life in mourning and praise their deeds and who they are as they leave their legacy behind, we can be consoled in grief, fine words here, love Dolly x

You did an excellent job with your poem, Dove. The art choice pairs perfectly with your well thought out, but thoughtful, poignant poem. I'm happy your friend got to experience this before he passes. Great job with the rhymes and the strong message. [My mother died of pancreatic cancer.]
Thanks for sharing.
Respectfully, Jan

what a lovely thing to do. And sad.
But a fond memory, and a warm, positive show of love for him. Very thoughtful and kind. I'm sure it meant a lot to him, and his wife.
