Wow! There is not much more to say. You definitely got your message across with few words, but the image of you being silent is very loud.
I can feel the pain you suffered in this poem.
So glad you are better.
Lots of luck in the contest.
Marie

Thanks for reading and responding to my work. I am now 72, and I had a 33 year career as a teacher and a supervisor. I was also a town councilman--so yes, I did overcome when I got to college! It was miraculous for me.

This short poems speaks loudly. I am so happy you have been able to speak. We do not understand what others may sometimes go through unless it is brought to the surface. You have done this in a very simple, yet profound way. Great work!

Thanks so much for responding. It was a terrible time for me. But miraculously, when I went to college, my voice returned. I had a great career as a teacher. I had to speak in front of an audience every day!!

Congratulations on overcoming your silence or stutter or both?

I'm glad you broke the silence and after you did may I ask did you stutter anymore?

Thank you for sharing and God bless you;-)

Thanks for responding. I did have a happy ending. When I went to college, the stutter began disappearing. I am 72 now, and I had a wonderful 33 year career as a teacher and supervisor. I also was a town councilman!!! So once, I found my voice, I used it!!

A sense of fellow feeling in this short and pointed poem. It spells out: "Don't give up. It will come right!"
Anyone with an impediment will appreciate this blast from someone else's past. Well done. I wish you success

Thanks for responding. It was a difficult time for me, but when I went to college, I overcame. I became an English teacher who had to stand in front of an audience every day!!!

That must have been terrible to be in high school with a stutter. Kids are cruel and I can imagine what kind of teasing or bullying you went through. I'm so sorry that this happened to you.
Good luck with the contest!

High school was the most difficult time. Miraculously, when I went to college, the stutter started disappearing. I became a high school English teacher who had to speak to an audience every day!!

This is such a strong poem you have written. I love how you wrote 'I finally spoke' on the last line- that made it even more powerful. I felt the emotions as I read it. Very nice job on a haiku. I enjoyed it!
