Such a beautiful execution of this style of writing! We can always hope and strive for another chance. The happiness we experience when we achieve that is worth shedding tears over. Great job!

This is a powerful Haiku. The emotions of having a second chance can be overwhelming of both joy and sadness. You showed this in the simple words of this Haiku.
Good luck in the contest.
Regards,
Mary

Second chances are rare and if we are offered one we should see it as a gift and grab it, I enjoyed the irony here Iza, a fine write, much enjoyed, love Dolly x

Hello out there.
A good entry for the haiku contest. I wish you good luck with it.
Cetianly a haiku with emotion and a swing line in the middle.
and well..every one wants a second chance...eh.

This has a lot of powerful imagery with the tear being personified and showing the despair. It seems that despite the happiness of a "second chance" something is overshadowing it.
There are lots of rules to haiku and I feel like this may be more a senryu.
But I liked your use of "shadowing" as our feelings sometimes can overshadow even the hopeful events.
Best wishes in the contest!

I have always been a huge fan of haikus. Your haiku is lovely. The first line has me a little stumped, but it could be because I am currently exhausted and brain dead from fatigue. When you state "A tear cried despair", I wonder what you mean. Tears don't cry. Eyes cry. Tears fall from those crying eyes. However, perhaps you are using a clever trick here? A tear that cried (called out), "Despair". If the latter is what you mean, would it be worth it to include the quotes around the word, despair? That's a decision only you can and should make. Either way, great job. Powerful poem!

The power of mixed emotions when raised in the context of second chances is a image clearly conveyed in this haiku. The accompanying artwork captures the essence of the piece, in a manner that takes the work to the next level.

This is one of the better Haiku's I've read. I really enjoyed reading this. Thank you for sharing. I can feel the emotion of the reason for the tear. I want to wish you the very best luck with the contet.

I think its an interesting concept; this idea of failed second chances, and the fragility of mankind. Not often is it expressed. But you had a great poignant image there symbolizing the despair of failing...again. estory
