This isnt your only offering concerning Martha...your first inspired my own in a poem once upon a time.

Without the Martha's of the world we'd all be in a welfare state...but...it was her to point out who prepared the most...not Someone else. I think that why the correction given...wonderful recollection. Love Michael

This is an admiable view of Martha's story that you have written. I think women, when they are hosting a meal are always extremely concerned with things of the world. It is interesting that you kept drawing attention to this. It brings a touch of realism to your story.

I am not all that familiar with the Bible, but based on the little I do know, Jesus would have been happy with anything Martha may have served. However, the fact that she went out of her way to assure a pleasant experience for her guests, puts her in the same league with countless others who plan and then host an event for friends and family. We all take a cue from Martha when we have company over, even if the company is not the son of God. And I think Jesus would approve of that approach.

This is one of my favorite New Testament stories because it reminds me I should always pay more attention to my relationship with my Savior than to anything this world has to offer. Good luck in the contest.

I completely understand. I have two sisters-in-law and we cut up that they are Mary and Martha. They both stay busy, busy, busy, but one of them NEVER stops. EVER. We always call her Martha. (Actually do you remember Marcia, on Brady Bunch? For some reason, I call her 'Martha, Martha, MARTHA!')
My point is that I can relate. Fortunately, we all usually pitch in and get all the work done so we can then all rest and enjoy the time afterward. Thanks!

The story about Martha is heart warming. She makes the kneeded bread and is so excited to see Jesus of Nazareth. She is keeping the path clear so he doesn't step on stones with His holy sandals.
