This eight-word poem, blushing tulip, has the required word count and notes the dainty flower and our first glance at it in the early hours. Nice.

Ciao poet .I have you your 3 vote!
This is a creative entry .. love the metaphor.
I have heard :
tulip blushes pink
but I don't recall it being combined even closely to :
From its morning rush.
I definitely am prone to pink cheeks .. as soon as I do a flight of stairs , my cheeks start to glow... idem during my morning walks.
Lots of women use make up to get the blush effect , mine is au natural ( biggrin).

In all honesty, I didn?t find it original .. it?s been said before.
Maybe I was not motivated to vote it because I don?t read books ..
I tend towards nature ..I love fauna and flora and that?s why your entry touched me.
I could connect to your words.
I am glad you reached the podium and this time by yourself.
Take care .. it?s late I need to sleep now.

Dolly,
Thanks, as always, for your review and stars. Even with your support for my entry, I only earned a third place. (Of course, no complaints about earning FS monies for the same.) The winning entry was outstanding and Inshared it with my family.

Dear Mystery Poet,
This is a delightful post and I enjoyed it a lot. BUT - I thought you might have missed the opportunity to stretch for something above average and unexpected...?
The set-up about tulips blushing in the morning made me want to see what made them blush, you know? A brush with a different flower? The knowledge that someone was looking? See what I mean?
To simply find out that she blushes when the sun rises is a little of a let down. Don't get me wrong, I think this poem works fine as is. BUT you could consider adding that extra something with a bit of personification fun. Thanks and good luck~

Robyn,
You are the second reviewer that made the same point. My poem was just a statement. It did not have/say anything special or unexpected. I will reconsider my choices.
Comment from Jacob Gosnell
I love how you incorporated the word "Blush" Hard for me to call it a story though, feels more like a statement. but then again you had no choice like at all with only 8 words to play with

Jacob,
Thanks for your review. I typically write short poems, predominantly 5-7-5 syllable ones. My poetry wheelhouse does not include long verses or multiple stanzas. Sometimes these short word poem contest entries do become statements. Some may say it is still poetry, others may not.

Jacob,
Based on your comment and another reviewer, I edited it. Methinks it now has a twist that makes it a stronger entry.

A very seasonal angle with this pithy , mere 8 word poem - to remind the reader, if they need reminding, that Spring has indeed sprung and Mother Nature is unfolding her colourful gems

Thanks Zanya for those comments and stars. Only a few days ago, we woke to a dusting of snow. I await the tulips to bud and to unfold nature?s majestic colors once again.

This 8 Words writing prompt contest entry speaks the wonderful blushing tulip, as it appears, in the morning sunshine, may be so because of morning chemical change of colour; well said, well sone; thanks for sharing this. ALCREATOR

You may know about that botanical reaction. I do not. But it makes some sense. I do know why the leaves turn in the fall. LOL. THANKS for your generous review!
Comment from Liz O'Neill
You have good use of some literary techniques. Your alliteration is will draw the reader in. You have good use of personification. The s's are creating the tone of morning quietness. Nicely expressed.
